Making a good first impression: New email connects with users five minutes after activating JMP
Building strong relationships with customers has always been a part of the JMP DNA. This spring, Global Marketing and User Enablement partnered to examine how and when we communicate with users throughout their journey.
During the review, the team identified a significant missed opportunity. Beyond a confirmation transactional email sent after payment, JMP hasn’t historically provided new users with a welcome email or a message to connect with customers during their first few minutes as JMP users.
In May, the team launched a new email campaign, which arrives in a user’s inbox five minutes after activation. In addition to thanking them for activating, we encourage users to start building (or expanding) their JMP skills by visiting Learn JMP. We also promote the broader JMP Community as a great place to ask questions, get answers, and network with other JMP users. Finally, we share ways to contact technical support should they have any questions.
The program is global, with emails delivered in the user's local language whenever location information is available.
Though engagement varies by country, open and click-through rates consistently exceed 20%, indicating that many recipients click the resources highlighted in the message.
But even if the user doesn’t interact with the email, JMP is now establishing an immediate connection with them, an important first impression in what we expect to be a long and successful partnership.
Brand-to-demand campaign delivers strong results
The JMP brand-to-demand campaign featured in the July 5 in 5 has officially wrapped, delivering strong results across the entire marketing funnel, from awareness and engagement to demand generation.
The campaign, a partnership between Global Marketing and Field Marketing, was designed to build awareness, strengthen engagement, and generate demand among JMP’s target audiences and accounts, moving audiences from initial awareness toward qualified contacts.
The YouTube and online video portions of the campaign delivered 1.8 million video impressions, with 69% of viewers watching at least half of the video and 58% watching the entire video, both metrics exceeding industry benchmarks. (View the brand video promotion.)
The momentum continued into the engagement phase, where display ads delivered 800,000 impressions to Target accounts and generated 1,160 clicks to JMP.com, with a 0.15% CTR, twice the industry benchmark.
The content syndication portion of the campaign delivered 250+ contacts from companies within our Target accounts, giving those teams a strong and engaged audience to nurture through continued marketing and sales engagement.
Across video, display, and content syndication, the campaign reached 927 Target accounts. Seventy-six accounts were reached across all three channels, helping build engagement across decision-makers and key stakeholders. Twenty-eight accounts were identified as highly engaged and flagged for sales outreach.
Together, these results demonstrate the value of connecting brand awareness, targeted engagement, and demand generation to create meaningful opportunities for JMP.
It’s the season of Discovery
Discovery Summit season is in full swing. With more than 400 registered attendees and a packed agenda of presentations and discussions, the recently concluded Online Early User Edition was a tremendous success. Tailor-made for new users, the event featured an engaging plenary session led by JMP's Wendy Tseng and users Rebecca Breuer and Cara Happe, who shared how data, design of experiments, and JMP helped shape their careers.
The virtual event was a great precursor to our flagship event, Discovery Summit 2026 in Baltimore, Oct. 19-22.
Discovery Summit 2026 will open with a plenary featuring John Sall, Meichen Dong, Phil Kay, Laura Castro-Schilo, Annie Dudley, Clay Barker, Yeng Saanchi, and Kasia Dobrzycka. Evolution, Adaptation, and Survival of the Fittest for Statistical Models will pit traditional, established statistical methods against newer, potentially more flexible ones to determine when it makes sense to stick with the familiar and when newer approaches can offer meaningful advantages.
Day Two’s plenary features Rivian’s Patrick Carlson and Dow’s Rui Vogt Alves da Cruz. Their talk will explore how organizations can leverage growing data volumes, faster computing, and increasingly sophisticated analytical tools while helping employees adapt to rapid change.
The closing plenary from USC’s Karen Lloyd takes attendees on a journey to the bottom of the ocean, inside active volcanoes, and to the wild polar-bear-inhabited Arctic to find out what makes intra-terrestrials tick and what real scientific discoveries still lie ahead on Earth.
If you haven’t encouraged your customers and prospects to attend, there’s still time to register!
The discoveries continue with the online Discovery China and Discovery Japan in Tokyo planned for November 2026. Registration is now open for Discovery Europe in Berlin, Mar. 9-11.
Statistical discovery continues: JMP Foreword’s latest issue on the way
After announcing the return of JMP Foreword in our last installment of 5 in 5, the second issue of JMP Foreword magazine is almost here.
Published quarterly, the latest issue is ready just in time for Discovery Summit in Baltimore.
The cover story features longtime JMP users and WildTrack co-founders Zoe Jewell and Sky Alibhai, whose innovative footprint identification technology (FIT) is helping conservationists monitor endangered species without disrupting wildlife. Of course, Jewell and Alibhai use JMP as their primary tool for analyzing and visualizing animal footprints, and we’ve been a key partner in WildTrack’s work since the organization’s earliest days.
Beyond the cover story, the issue features thought leadership, customer success stories, and statistical best practices for scientists, engineers, and other data explorers.
In addition to being distributed at events such as Discovery Summits, Discovery Seminars, and JMP Inspire Days, sales teams are encouraged to use the magazine to engage prospects and customers. The digital edition will soon be published on the JMP website. In the meantime, you can preview the issue here.
Employees can also request copies for themselves or their customers using this form: JMP Foreword Magazine Request Form – Fill out form.
JMP marketers gather in Cary to celebrate today and plan for the future
Many in the Global Marketing team gathered in Cary this month for three days focused on finishing the year strong and planning for 2027 and beyond. Discussions covered a wide range of topics, and the team came away with immediate action items, longer-term initiatives, and plenty to consider.
The main output from the meetings came from working in cross-departmental task force groups. We tackled four main areas: engagement, academics, Discovery, and the “This is how we JMP” statement.
The team committed to relaunching its presence on TikTok to connect with early and mid-career professionals, creating more authentic content through livestreams on YouTube, Instagram Live, and LinkedIn Live, and expanding social media engagement by building relationships with science, analytics, and academic influencers.
With nearly 50% of users coming from academia, Global Marketing doubled down on supporting the academic market and the next generation of scientists and engineers. Ideas generated during brainstorming included a JMP brand video tailored to academia, increased academic participation in live events, expanded commitments to free support, and a teaching portal designed to make JMP easier to teach and use in research.
A call to “do more with Discovery Summits” emerged as well. We will pursue ideas like leveraging attendee social media posts, featuring JMP leadership in promotions, and renewing our call for content for upcoming events.
Finally, the group discussed protecting our unique JMP culture. Senior Director of Marketing Diana Levey reminded everyone that collaboration was a consistent theme behind many of the team's greatest successes in 2026. “There are no shortcuts. You get the culture you want when you sit down together, when you share a meal together,” Levey said. She encouraged local employees to come in at least two days a week, meet face-to-face rather than on Teams, and look for more cross-functional sharing and collaboration. The group also deemed being a good steward of the JMP brand and having positive interactions with the external JMP community a priority. Kindness, professionalism, and authenticity are cornerstones for the aspirational “This is how we JMP” statement.
Finally, the group committed to future meetings, in person when possible, including full-team gatherings in December and at the next JMP Reunion.
