What inspired this Wish List Request?
For big data set, some markers pretty difficult to read in a scatter plot. Outlining them would help.
You can find an example below of a JMP analysis vs. the equivalent on Spotfire.

Airbus looks for a visualization tool in replacement of Spotfire. They don't want to loose their actual ability to read graphics with this change.
JMP has an 'Outlined' Marker Drawing Mode, ...

... but I don't think the marker shapes drawn with lines: X, Y, Z, +, -, *, |, /, etc. are drawn with thick lines:
