Solving gastric cancer diagnosis problems and optimizing treatment with JMPShowa University School of Medicine (Showa University Koto Toyosu Hospital) Department of Gastroenterological Surgery Associate Professor Hiroaki Ito
Showa University Koto Toyosu Hospital Gastrointestinal Center Professor Haruhiro Inoue
The presenter is a gastrointestinal surgeon who has proposed the optimal treatment for gastric cancer by clarifying scientific facts using JMP. (1) Consider surgical treatment including lymph node dissection for early gastric cancer containing undifferentiated components (J Exp Clin Cancer Res. 2011;30:117). (2) After endoscopic treatment for early gastric cancer, additional resection should be performed if there is histologically horizontal tumor exposure, and surgical treatment should be considered if venous invasion or deep submucosal infiltration is observed (Gastroenterol Res. Pract. 2013; 427405). (3) Combined resection of the spleen does not improve the prognosis of upper gastric cancer (Anticancer Res. 2013;33:277-282). (4) Laparoscopic total gastrectomy and intracavitary anastomosis are safer than open surgery (Surg Endosc. 2014;28:1929-1935). ⑤ In gastric cancer, the prognosis is significantly poorer when 6 or more cancer cells are present in 7.5 ml of blood (World J Gastroenterol. 2016;22:10232-10241).
In this presentation, I would like to demonstrate concretely how to extract meaningful information from a large amount of clinical information using JMP, including actual operations.
