Hiccup is a symptom that many people experience. It is rare to directly affect life, but refractory hiccups are said to lead to insomnia, depression and so on.In particular, for patients undergoing disease treatment, drug-induced hiccups may not only interfere with treatment but may also affect appropriate treatment options. However, there are few reports as side effects of drugs, and their relevance has not been clarified. Therefore, using the large-scale side effect database (Japanese Adverse Drug Event Report database: JADER), I searched for causative drugs of hiccups.JADER is composed of four data tables, and each table is joined using JMP.Based on the presence or absence of hiccup onset and the presence of each drug, comprehensive 2 × 2 dissolution table was prepared, and the odds ratio and P value of Fisher's exact test were calculated.By plotting the scatter plot (volcano plot) taking the natural log of the odds ratio on the X axis and the common logarithm of the inverse of the P value of Fisher's exact test on the Y axis, it affects the onset of hiccups from many medicines We succeeded in extracting and visualizing drugs to be taken.Furthermore, it was possible to evaluate related physical information by multivariate analysis together with patient information. These methods using JMP can extract and visualize necessary factors from a large scale side effect database and are also useful for clinical medicine.
