What inspired this Wish List Request? Before JMP 18 markers in the Fit Model platform obeyed the row state from the table. This behavior matched the universal expected behavior of all the other platforms in JMP. After JMP 18, only in the Fit Model platform's actual, the excluded rows stopped obeying the row state, and became a very light grey lowercase "e". (hard to see, especially on projected screens and large conference room screens)
In a number of JMP DoE demos we talk about the idea of doing a validation run or two after the experiment is complete. In this case it is useful to show the marker of the validation run but not include it in the model so that we can see how well the new experimental condition matches the expected outcome. The Actual by predicted plot in Fit Model is ideal for displaying this. In addition changing the marker color and type of outlier rows from a Doe that are excluded and not hidden is very convenient, and changing the marker to the combined row state of hidden, red, triangle, made the excluded row very attentive in the graph. (again, light grey "e" is harder to see and unexpected.)
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see. Please roll back this feature the its state it was for the prior 25 years. If the "e" is desired for some big customer, make it an add-in or a platform preference that is not on by default. I think I've asked for this before so if this is another duplication I apologize.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided? The value of rolling back this "feature" is that the fit model platform would behave like every other platform. It would make visualization of excluded rows more clear. For example if the user chooses the Asterix marker, then in the figure legend, the user could use a very common convention of' " * This observation was excluded from the analysis. "
Is this an external customer request? Three users from vertex specifically asked for a non-scripting solution to make markers visible. In addition it's been messing with "art of the possible" demos for quite some time. As a result we just don't demo that in JMP because it's weird and it breaks some of the old classic demos.
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?
