VDA 5, Anyone else got a request for JMP feature to cover this standard?

Hi all,

I got a question from a potential customer regarding the VDA 5 (German AIAG as some call it)  and if there is a JMP built in feature for it.

As I understand it is mainly about Type 1 gauge analysis but also not sure if that covers everything.

Could that be an idea for an addin and if so does anyone have a customer that is implementing VDA in one way or another using JMP?

The "Type 1 Gauge" covers only a portion of the VDA guidelines. Notably, the AIAG-VDA integrated SPC manual was recently released. While industry discussions regarding this appear to have begun right now, they are still in the early stages given the recency of the release.

Hi @Astrid_Ruck, thank you very much for the quick reply. I think I get it now. Do you think that it is possible to follow the VDA 5 using JMP? And maybe would it be easy for someone to create an addin for that purpose ?

Hi Spyros, VDA (Verband der Automobilindustrie) is a working group of the German automotive industry. VDA 5 and AIAG MSA follow different approaches. AIAG focuses on variation, while VDA 5 evaluates measurement uncertainty. Many automotive auditors require compliance with VDA 5 because it provides a standardized assessment framework. AIAG MSA serves mainly as a methodology manual and does not prescribe mandatory acceptance criteria.

VDA 5 follows the GUM (Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement) approach by evaluating and combining all relevant sources of measurement uncertainty, while Gage R&R is primarily based on the variation attributable to operators, parts, and equipment.
