Resonaq Corporation is a functional chemicals manufacturer whose purpose is "to change society through the power of chemistry," and it is promoting data-driven R&D throughout the company using computational science, statistical analysis, and AI technology. A key focus of this initiative is the development of "ambidextrous individuals" who possess not only expertise in experimental research but also computational and information science skills such as data analysis. This presentation will focus on the development of data scientists in the R&D department, which forms the core of this initiative. Starting with the company-wide adoption of JMP (Japan Data Management Program), the company has cultivated data utilization personnel rooted in practical work through an in-house data scientist certification system and education based on real-world challenges. As a result, while some success has been achieved, such as an increase in internal use cases by certified data scientists, challenges have also emerged in further expanding the base of utilization and continuously promoting development. On the day of the presentation, we would like to share our practical experiences and prospects for realizing data-driven R&D, while also touching upon the knowledge gained from the training and the development of the data infrastructure and tools that support it.
