19.1.5: Final Installer Candidates 8/9/26 • 19.2: Security Freeze 9/3/26 • 20.0: open in main; EA6 Code Freeze 8/27/26; Code Freeze 1/7/27
Welcome to the JMP Development Update for August 7, 2026!
Today marks the end of the summer internship program with SAS and JMP. Congratulations to all on a successful summer! JMP interns presented over five demo sessions in the past two weeks, and if you missed any of them, I encourage you to check them out – very impressive work! Many interns also presented posters to crowds of attendees at the Intern Expo yesterday in building C. Several of our interns will be able to continue working with us in a year-round capacity, and we look forward to their continued contributions. Special thanks to Audrey Shull, Trevor Rathje and Christine Bevan for working so closely with the interns throughout the summer and beyond!
Mia Stephens shared that notification of the availability of EA5 was sent to Early Adopter members on Tuesday. Thanks to developers and product managers for updating feature pages, and for everyone else who had a hand in getting it out the door! We plan to freeze EA6 on August 27 and continue finalizing features and fixing bugs as we progress to EA7, EA8 and EA9.
Please continue to review your open Epic and Story items with Planned Version = 20 and triage them appropriately. You can remove the Planned Version, update it to a later track or demote a Story to a Feature Request if it needs more research and evaluation. If you have Story or Epic items still in progress, please add them to the 20 Late Features page here and use the template to assess impact to downstream teams. Thanks to everyone who has already added items to this page! It’s very helpful to have a clear picture of feature work remaining in the track.
One final note - Maddi Walsleben shared that the marketing communications team is trying to compile a list of people who use JMP in fun and interesting ways to share on our social media channels. You can fill in this Microsoft form with details if you know about someone like that!

JMP Development Updates
Life Sciences Updates
- Jake:
- Extended the Torch Add-In GNN models to work with pharmaceutical small molecule binding data. I did a series of tests with published datasets to compare my results. I beat out the published GNN models, but not quite the best published models. I will try to beat the best models next week.
- Created a plan for extending the Torch Add-In GNN models to crystalline file formats (.CIF). This will allow users to run semiconductor-related datasets with the Torch Add-In.
- Presented my poster at the SAS summer intern Expo
- Added a “molecular class” column to the automatically generated SMILES/geometry data from the file loader GUI. This will allow users to interpret the model results more easily after running GNN models, because they will be able to assess whether their trained model is under/over performing on given molecular classes (e.g., alkanes, alcohols, phenols, etc. ).
- Drew: Final tweaks to NIST Validation and Installer Validation tools for PDF generation support. Fixing JMP Clinical Jiras. Researching enhancements to the JMP Clinical unit testing infrastructure. Attended all of the wonderful intern presentations. Very impressed with all of them!!! Pete Townshend knew - the kids are alright

Product Management and Product Marketing
- Bryan:
- Delivered updated icon packages for a variety of Table Icons, Support Vector Machines, Naive Bayes, Venn diagrams, Medical Query Recurrence, and Fit Y by X, including accessibility-focused improvements.
- Expanded Fluent modernization coverage with additional refreshes including Crosshair, Header Stats Toggle, Column Filter Extras, JMP Search, and Columns Viewer.
- Progressed panel expand/collapse usability improvements, with Windows assets integrated into a testable build.
- Provided accessibility test scripts to UC System representative and reached out to Greg Kraus of SAS regarding usability testing, as well as Todd Hoffman.
- Facilitated conversation about small UI changes that could yield relatively large benefits.
- Presented an approach to help define report workflow UX language that frames approvals as review of a report definition/template rather than point-in-time data values, improving reviewer clarity.
- Kaylee: This week we had a sales enablement training on Workflow Builder and the value it brings by helping customers automate repetitive analyses, improve reproducibility, and scale best practices across teams without requiring coding. Owen Jonathan did a fantastic job presenting this training, and it was well received by our sales teams. If you would like to watch the recording, you can watch it here.
- Mia: The notification of the availability of EA5 was sent to Early Adopter members on Tuesday. Thanks to developers and product managers for updating feature pages, and for everyone else who had a hand in getting it out the door. Attended JSM in Boston for a couple days. Saw some interesting talks, and had an opportunity to connect with several JMP staff and users at the JMP booth.

Development Operations
- Shannon L: Reminder for those involved in sign-off: we've a new process to document any impacts to JMP software for security updates in a monthly release - these are rare but this new process ensures that Tech Support is aware when there are (or are not) impacts. Working with Audrey, reviewing the list of JMP-owned VMs that will need to be off of the SAS vCenters at the end of 2026 and 2027, finalizing our assessments so we can make migration recommendations and get those underway. Creating the security bulletin for the monthly security release and participated in the end-of-cycle monthly security reviews for each of the JMP products - signoff for our August releases is scheduled for next week. Weekly technical meetings. Worked with my intern, Drew Hunter, on his access control initiative project. Visited the Intern Expo to see many JMP interns' posters!

- I attended the 2026 JSM in Boston and presented a paper on a screening accelerated life testing framework for evaluating the reliability of AI systems in the Survival Analysis, Reliability, and Accelerated Life Testing session.
- I worked with Caleb, Mark, and Ryan DeWitt and continued revising multiple experimental design options for the second phase of the additive manufacturing project.
- Caleb: Just got back from JSM. Had a great time catching up with colleagues and helping out with the booth! I attended a few sessions as well and heard some interesting ideas for us to consider in the DOE group.
Hosting and Interfaces
- John Schroedl: Working on updates to Splash, About and window titles for new 2027 branding; should be able to pass the branding suffix ("2027") as a build script define. Underline-style buttons on Windows can now include icons. Like Mac, icons will not have an underline but are clickable. Worked with Evan McCorkle on improving the a11y name of the color display control. Thanks to Andrew Vitkus for the color consultation. Added a11y labels into some obvious areas of the Surface platform. Updated line weight of host control default focus visual to more-closely match WinUI and portably drawn kbd focus. Icon updates. Reported the behavior seen using JMP Clinical on Server 2019 to the Microsoft Security Response Center as a possible OS security issue.
- Paul: Security Updates
- JMP-31795 - HDF5 to 2.2.0 -> JMP 19.1.5, 19.2, 20.0
- JMP-31491 - Python 3.13.15 -> JMP 19.1.5, 19.2
Interactive HTML
- Mike Stickles: Continued work on JMPHTML-15608 (Implementing Constellation Plot). Creating the system for handling edge and vertex selection with shift and/or control keys pressed has proved more complicated than I’d hoped due to the way node graph selections propagate outwards from the selected vertices (and how this changes depending on the key states).
- John Powell:
- Committed support for Scatterplot 3D’s Nonpar Density Contours(JMPHTML-15703).
- Researching solutions to improve rendering of transparent 3D surfaces(JMPHTML-15727) .
- Working on retaining open/closed states of Outline Boxes across sessions(JMPHTML-15737).
- Helped with a Technical Support question about Interactive HTML Dark Theme and graph background colors.

- Third party package updates
- Iteration retrospective / planning / demo
- Exploring Bitbucket Pipelines
- Bug investigations and filing
Statistics
- Laura C-S: Fixed a couple small bugs in SEM (prototypes in the SEM SI Table and names of grouping variable levels). I’ve also been debugging the mean and variance entries of the asymptotic covariance matrix of the “MultiCorrelationFitter.” This matrix is needed to adjust the SEs of the Categorical MIIV-2SLS in SEM. Working on a simulation so we can have a good oracle. Received nice feedback from attendees at a conference last week where I had the chance to present and demo the new estimator (MIIV-2SLS) in SEM. Met with D&I Advisory Team to work on our charter.
- John Sall:
- In Explore Outliers - Robust PCA, colorize saved residuals and scaled residuals (JMP-31784);
- In Process Screening, increase the number of horizontal axis labels;
- In Custom Design and Design Explorer, continue tool tip and layout work (JMP-31707).
Stat Testing
- Tonya: Testing multivariate capability analysis and the (new) separate variability and attribute gauge launches. Updating attribute gauge unit tests due to recent outline node changes.
