As summer winds down, things are a little quieter across User Enablement. That brief pause is welcome. It gives us a chance to catch our breath, evaluate the systems and programs that support our users, and prepare for what will be a very busy fall filled with JMP Inspire events, user groups, workshops, and Discovery Summit activities around the world.
Our biggest focus in the coming months is Discovery Summit in Baltimore. Registration is open, the agenda is set, and presenter details are still being added. If you work directly with customers or prospects, now is a great time to encourage attendance. Discovery Summit remains one of the most effective ways for users to connect with the JMP community, learn new techniques, and see how others are creating value with JMP.
We're also looking ahead to Discovery Summit Early User Edition on Sept. 23-24. Designed specifically for users early in their JMP journey, the Early User Edition provides an approachable introduction to the Discovery Summit experience and the broader JMP community. It's a great entry point for users who may not yet be ready for the full conference, giving them an opportunity to build skills, discover resources, and see the breadth of what JMP has to offer. Together, these events help users at every stage of their JMP journey and create pathways for deeper engagement with JMP over time.
This month's updates also highlight the breadth of activity across User Enablement. The Education Team continues to expand the Getting Started learning pathways, making it easier for new users, students, and Python users to become productive quickly. The Academic Team has been active around the globe, from ICOTS in Australia to faculty development programs in India and outreach events across the United States, while preparing for the annual rush of student registrations and the start of a new academic year. At the same time, we continue modernizing our licensing infrastructure, including the upcoming retirement of support for legacy serial number activation systems.
Looking ahead, our calendar is full. New user groups are launching, JEJUG sessions continue, Discovery Summit Europe is already accepting content submissions for 2027, and teams around the world are delivering workshops, webinars, and community events. Thanks to everyone who contributes to these efforts and helps JMP users succeed every day. Let's use these final weeks of summer to prepare for a strong and productive fall.
Technical Support
As JMP continues to modernize its licensing and software delivery systems, older serial number–based activation methods are being retired. Effective Oct. 1, 2026, JMP Technical Support will no longer provide additional installation or reinstallation activations for JMP software licensed through legacy serial number activation systems (known as shrinkwrap). See Legacy Serial Number Activation Support.
Customer Engagement
As the new school year begins, the JMP Engagement Team is prepared to answer questions from returning students about JMP Student Edition.
Education
The Education Team continues to expand the Getting Started series, giving new users faster, more focused pathways to learning JMP.
Coming Soon:
- August 2026: Updated Getting Started with JMP: On Demand, featuring shorter videos (about 10 minutes total) and more interactive, discovery-based exercises.
- August 2026: New Getting Started with JMP for Students, created by the Academic Team and designed for use as a first course assignment.
- September 2026: Updated Getting Started with Python in JMP with new features and refreshed examples.
- October 2026: DOE Intro Kit becomes Getting Started with DOE in JMP, with an introduction to DOE, overviews of Easy DOE and Custom DOE, and hands-on examples including the Coffee Experiment and Paper Helicopter Experiment.
- Early 2027: New Getting Started with Graphing in JMP, covering Graph Builder fundamentals and common customizations.
Also, keep an eye on the content in the Statistics Knowledge Portal (SKP) (which also surfaces in Learn JMP). The Education Team has been publishing new content regularly, with even more pages scheduled for release in August. These resources are a great way for users to find guidance on topics ranging from JMP basics to advanced statistical methods.
Academic
As summer enters its final weeks for academics, we are gearing up for the new academic year, which begins in earnest in three weeks. With that in mind, the academic team is preparing for the fall JMP Student Edition registration rush and ensuring our systems and support materials are in place to minimize user friction and tech support calls. Improvements to our teaching resources will go live in the next few days.
- The academic team participated in the international flagship conference for stats education, ICOTS12 in Brisbane, Australia, with 400+ delegates, including statistics education thought leaders from around the world. We hosted a panel discussion about Statistical Literacy and AI, with invited panelists from Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Pakistan, and JMP. Presented a Lunch&Learn JMP Getting Started workshop, and Volker provided a contributed talk on the benefits of free JMP add-ins for teaching and learning. The following week was seeding JMP use in Sydney, still an academic greenfield for us, with faculty workshops at the University of New South Wales (#1 ranked in AU), Macquarie University, and the University of Technology Sydney.
- Vel Tech University – Biomedical Engineering: The JMP Academic team conducted a Faculty Development Program (FDP) for the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Vel Tech University to support the adoption of JMP for teaching and academic research. The sessions highlighted how JMP enables statistical discovery across biomedical applications, equipping faculty and students with industry-relevant analytical skills for healthcare technologies, medical devices, biopharma, and advanced research.
- KIIT Deemed to be University – Civil Engineering:
JMP Academic team delivered a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Design of Experiments (DOE) using JMP for the School of Civil Engineering at KIIT DU. The program focused on applying modern experimental design techniques to optimize engineering processes, improve research efficiency, and enable data-driven decision-making.
- Exhibited at the annual conference for the Society for the Advancement of Biology Education Research (SABER), a gathering of around 300 biology faculty, all with a focus on teaching. Over 20 attendees joined a JMP demo, and another 24 stopped by the JMP booth, with many signaling interest in adopting JMP Student Edition for teaching biostatistics or other courses.
- Exhibited at a mid-career faculty workshop hosted by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). This one-day event generated 13 faculty leads interested in using JMP Student Edition for teaching (especially DOE) or academic research.
Over the next month, we will attend the JSM (Joint Statistical Meetings) in Boston and deliver a JMP workshop, in collaboration with the Life Sciences R&D team, for the Bioinformatics Research Center at NC State University.
Digital Experiences
To better understand how to connect with our users, we conducted a survey regarding the JMP Newswire. Interested in the results? View the graphs in JMP Live.
