What inspired this Wish List Request?
There is currently no way to specify the output table name when using Multiple File Import. The resulting table is automatically named using a range of imported file names, which can create inconsistent table names.
When recording to Workflow Builder, this can become problematic if additional files are added to the source folder, causing the generated table name to change. While this can be addressed with JSL using << Set Name(), that solution is not intuitive for non-programmers using Workflow Builder.
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see.
Add an "Output Table" naming option to the Multiple File Import dialog, similar to naming options available elsewhere in JMP (ie: Join, Concatenate, etc.)
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided?
This would improve ease of use, reduce the need for JSL workarounds, and provide more consistent behavior when building workflows.
Is this an external customer request?
No.
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?
Not that I am aware of.
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?
While not tied to a specific account, the current behavior can create an unnecessary barrier to Workflow Builder adoption. Providing a simple output table naming option would make workflows more predictable and encourage broader use by non-programmers.
