What inspired this Wish List Request? Right now, when you're reviewing a control chart in JMP Live, there's no direct way to add a comment to a specific data point unless it's flagged as out of spec. If something worth noting happens on an in-spec point (a process change, a maintenance event, a shift handover note) there's no direct way to capture that context directly on the chart. Users might end up tracking these notes outside JMP Live entirely, in email, spreadsheets, or verbally, which means the context gets lost or separated from the data it belongs to.
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see.Allow users to add a comment to any data point in a JMP Live control chart, not just points flagged out of spec. The comment should be attachable directly from the chart view in JMP Live, similarly to how triage works today for out-of-spec points.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided? This would let operators and engineers capture context right at the moment they see it, instead of switching to another tool or trying to remember it later. It keeps the process history attached to the data itself, which matters a lot for root cause investigations down the line: being able to see "why did this point look different" annotated directly on the chart, even when the point wasn't flagged as an outlier. It also means less duplicate record keeping across email and shared docs, since the chart becomes the single source of truth.
Is this an external customer request?
Yes, from two accounts:
- JSR Micro, existing customer, contact: Ruben Lenaerts
- AEB Amsterdam, potential customer, contact: Stijn Witberg (early-stage conversations)
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?Not confirmed at this stage. Can follow up if either customer references a specific tool during further conversations.
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this? Some risk. For AEB Amsterdam (potential customer), this is a requirement they've raised early in the conversation, so it could influence whether they adopt JMP Live at all. For JSR Micro (existing customer), it's a usability gap they'd like addressed, though not yet flagged as a renewal blocker.
