19.1.5: Security Freeze 8/6/26 • 19.2: Security Freeze 9/3/26 • 20.0: open in main; Feature Freeze and EA5 Freeze 7/23/26; Sample Data Freeze 9/17/26
Welcome to the JMP Development Update for July 17, 2026!
Thanks to everyone involved in the final installer candidate creation and vetting process for 19.1.4! Final sign-offs were completed today, and we expect to release 19.1.4 in MyJMP next week. Associated deliverables like Release Notes, Security Bulletin updates, and updated installer validation files will be posted when 19.1.4 is available to customers.
With the 19.1.4 end-of-release task list nearly complete (JMPTOOL-2275), many processes are already up and running for the 19.1.5 security release track (JMPTOOL-2287). 19.2 is also now frozen for functional bug fixes, although we will continue to collect security updates until the 19.2 Security Freeze in early September. Meanwhile, work also continues on documentation deliverables, including English and localized Help and PDFs.
Please update your feature pages in advance of our 20.0 EA5 freeze next week (July 23). EA5 also coincides with our 20.0 Feature Freeze date. I know that this milestone always comes sooner than we hope. It is likely that there may be some important projects that will still require late feature work in epics or stories after July 23. When we reach Feature Freeze, please discuss any remaining feature work with your manager, and if you both agree it must be included to ship 20.0, please add details to this Late Features page. Any entry on this page must include a descriptive heading, link(s) to Jira details, and an assessment of the anticipated impact of the late feature work to downstream teams. Please see the template on this page for details and reach out to me, Shannon Leslie, or Mia Stephens if you have any questions.
Congratulations to Ryan Lekivetz and his daughter, Rory, whose father-daughter DOE experiments are featured in the current issue of Triangle Family Magazine! I loved reading more about their partnership on various fun experiments involving designs for paper airplanes and paper frogs, gummy bears, and root beer floats. In addition to learning to use DOE platforms like Easy DOE and Custom Design to plan experiments (in grade school, no less!), Rory has now presented her work at Discovery Summit events around the world. In fact, she and Ryan won the award for Best Contributed paper at JMP Discovery in Austin (see picture below) and will present the results of her root beer experiment at the upcoming JSM 2026 meeting in Boston!

- Tonya: Testing the multivariate capability, a new feature found in Process Capability. Continuing to test recent changes in Process Screening and CUSUM.
Life Sciences Updates
- Wenjun:
- This week, the Life Sciences group was delighted to welcome our remote colleagues Luciano Silva, Rebecca Lyzinski, and Farzaneh Rastegari to Cary. We were also joined by our summer interns, who enthusiastically participated in all of the activities throughout the week. It was a fantastic week filled with connection, teamwork, exercise, and fun. Most importantly, we successfully escaped from the escape rooms!
- Highlights of the Week
- Monday: Richard finally gave his own team his famous improvisation training.
- Tuesday Morning: We hiked nearly five miles in Umstead State Park. Special thanks to Jon Weisz and Shannon Conners for joining us.
- Tuesday Afternoon: We gathered on the 4th floor to watch the World Cup together.
- Wednesday Lunch: The team enjoyed lunch at The Pit BBQ in downtown Raleigh.
- Wednesday Afternoon: We put our teamwork skills to the test at Nerd Escape Room in Raleigh.
- Thursday Morning: We started the day with a friendly game of pickleball.
- Thursday Afternoon: We joined the JMP team-building event at ParTee Shack.
- As the week came to an end, Luciano, Rebecca, and Farzaneh headed back home on Friday. Luciano and Farzaneth were happy to solve their laptop problems by going to visit SAS IT in person. We greatly enjoyed the time spent together. After an energizing and productive week, we are ready to head back to work with renewed enthusiasm.

- Drew: With more JMP Clinical customers moving their data into DataBricks, I spent this week researching an integration between DataBricks and JMP Clinical. Specifically, I created a JSL UI that enables a user to navigate their DataBricks catalogs (studies), view a list of schemas (snapshots) for a selected study, and then add/refresh the tables (domains) into JMP Clinical for a selected snapshot. For future versions of JMP Clinical, we might consider expanding study management to include run-time pluggable implementations for managing the data in systems like Databricks, removing the dependencies on filesystem storage alone. Thanks to Bryan Boone for his assistance with my DataBricks access and general JMP Data Connector support.
- Jake:
- I created my intern expo board for August’s SAS Intern Expo
- I found and addressed a memory leak issue when running the JMP PyTorch Add-In on Mac MPS GPUs
- I am working on adding more file types for the JSL file loader GUI in the Add-In
- Started adding feature importance calculations to the chemical GNN models, which will help users with model interpretability
- Farzaneh: The new Genomics Starter is ready to test for version 20!
Product Management and Product Marketing
- Mia: Working with Shannon Leslie to identify what may need to change when JMP moves to release-year product naming (i.e., JMP 2027). Our initial focus is on in-product, installer, and JMP application-related changes. See the JMP Product Name and Version Number page for more information about this change, and stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
- Bryan:
- Accessibility and keyboard navigation: Requested feedback from the University of Arkansas on accessibility updates.
- Icon modernization: Continued icon refresh development and coordination for JMP 20.
- Integrate Local & Data Table Filtering: Developing a usability test to evaluate the integration of dynamic data table and local data table filtering capabilities.

Development Operations
- Shannon L: Created a new process to document any impacts to JMP software for security updates in a monthly release - these are rare, but this new process ensures that Tech Support is aware when there are (or are not) impacts. Used that process for our July security release! Worked with Mia to outline the changes needed by DevOps and R&D to implement the new JMP-year naming scheme, rolling out with JMP 2027 Version 20. Helped CIS create a knowledge base article for tracking who to contact for our AWS accounts when there are issues or restarts needed. Created the security bulletin for the monthly security release and participated in the end-of-cycle monthly security reviews for each of the JMP products. Worked with Myron on testing the new Jira Manager field in the Jirabot dev environment. Worked with my intern, Drew Hunter, on his access control initiative project.

System/Host Testing-Cary
- Mandy: Caught up with Jiras, checking and verifying, and writing new tests. Had 3 TS tracks assigned to me - passed 2 of those to Nick H, since they pertained to MetaData. Tracked down a diff I was getting with the get table script - from the Metadata script - Hunter assisted me, to figure out there seems to be a difference using a Windows ARM64 machine or Server(Intel) Windows machine - opened a Jira for Developer. Worked on adding another preference test for auto tags in Zfiles to be safe and avoid having that affect other tests. Tested a JIRA with auto tagging of database-related opens and got a great assist from Eric Horton in testing that. Next - working on some more Auto tagging, Dynamic tables JSL tests additions, working on 2 tables that we may add to Samples in 20 (With Mia and others).
- Eric:
- Finished testing JMP-30799 Auto Tag Rules: Allow this to prompt when opening a database type file.
- Opened new JIRA bug related to JMP-30799; JMP-31529 Auto Tag Rules: Auto Tagging Rules on Import set to “auto” still prompting.
- Created a new JSL unit test for regression testing Auto Tag Rules that will run in our nightly /DataTable/SQL tests.
- Regression testing for JMP Query Builder and opening SQLite data files for JMP-31193 sqlite@3.53.2 upgrade for CVEs fixes on JMP 19.1.4, 19.2, and 20.0.
- Debugging failure for testODBCOpenonetable.jsl in our nightly test runs.
- Audrey: My group welcomed Brad Norris to our team this week. It was wonderful to have him in Cary to meet team members and get a jump-start on work he’ll be doing with us. I spent time doing 19.1.4 final validations (we signed off today) and working with our intern, Khushi Shah, on the Mimic data pipeline.
- Hunter: Spent much of the week completing JMP 19.1.4 final installer testing. Investigated a crash that was appearing when an open JMP session was left idle during the night. Trying to reproduce some other nightly test failures and crashes on different systems.
Web Testing

- Warning Panel for CCB with the By group behaving unexpectedly
- Charts for Process screening reports are not displayed when the browser window is resized
- In Progress:
- Add control to hide no warnings columns, hide by default
- Hui:
- Completed JMPLive 19.6 localization testing for UI changes through July 14; current scope is clean with no additional check-ins observed.
- Tested HTML5 Control Chart Where-clause support and logged/tracked related issues (JMPHTML-15681 ~ JMPHTML-15684).
- JMPHTML-14634 (Major) remains blocked by linked defects; re-verification is planned once fixes are merged into a testable build.
- Identified and validated a fix for WEBJMP-12800 (“Page not found” in the quick publish tool); the issue has been verified and closed.
- Enhanced journal integrity test tooling to compare the original report vs. the reopened saved journal, improving detection of graphic-attribute loss regressions.
- Overall: Solid execution this week with 4 verified, 8 reported, and no reopens; 1 regression was identified and contained, with remaining risk centered on 1 dependency-blocked item (JMPHTML-14634).
- Anna:

- Reported JMPHTML-15687 3D: Add LRT support to toggle Connect Points
Core
- Xan: Add support for tooltips in legends (must be provided by platform). Box plot code cleanup with higher precision drawing. Added Grubbs’s outlier interval in the GB box plot.

- Dave B:
- Added a data table export option to save labels instead of the values if the column has a labels property
- Fixed a bug that caused reference lines to sometimes not get journaled (triggered by a collapsed axis display)
- Fixed a different bug that caused graph script functions to sometimes not get journaled
- Fixed a couple of bugs with 3d graphs (size changed when redoing, and confusing grid lines behavior)
- Dan S: Continuing changes for Keyboard/Edit focus to centralize behavior. Additional fixes for Markers/Colors/ColorThemes in the alt+click dialog. Fixes for borderless pop-up windows on Win displays > 100% scale. Fix for data table becoming dirty when reports launch with Column Group().
- Evan: Worked with John Schroedl on the reliability and consistency of JMP tooltips. Provided some Mimic support.
DOE and Reliability
- Caleb: Working on a ticket to automatically adjust axes in Fit Life by X to show use condition levels. I've also been working on my Discovery talk.
Hosting and Interfaces
- John Schroedl:
- Host: Reworked tooltips on Windows to no longer rely on pushBackground, as backgrounds can be starved by pushCallback and never run. pushCloseWindow uses such a callback. Tooltip impl is now pure host code and more efficient in managing the WPF control. Fixed some unnecessary exceptions triggered when using DirectWrite to draw emoji. Allow tooltips to show on disabled combobox items. Icon updates.
- Accessibility: Changed peer properties to avoid popups (ex. tooltips) from redirecting accessibility focus to the root of a window. Needs more tuning to address an issue with the initially-focused item.
Note from Shannon
Thanks very much to Ashley Tannert and Audrey Shull for working to organize a fun teambuilding activity at Partee Shack in Raleigh yesterday! The picture shows JMP staff enjoying duckpin bowling, creative mini golf, and other arcade games. I enjoyed bowling, pizza, mini golf, and catching up with numerous people I had not seen recently. I know some people from these groups were not able to attend due to pressing work commitments, but please know that your dedication is appreciated and you were missed.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
