Editor's note: By now, everyone at JMP should have had a chance to review the 2026 goals and initiatives. And while they are all pretty self-explanatory, it’s still helpful to take a deeper dive into each one to see how it affects day-to-day work at JMP. To help you see these goals in action, this series of Inside JMP articles takes a closer look at each goal and provides updates on progress toward meeting it. See them all here. Today, Tara Kupselaitis provides an update on the Finance team's recent efficiency gains.
As the SAS Contract Transition concluded in 2025, the JMP Finance team began shifting its focus toward efficiency – building momentum late in the year and accelerating into 2026. Despite many additional manual steps introduced during the transition, our team remained committed to scaling automation to enhance accuracy, strengthen controls, and maintain audit readiness, while keeping the group lean but mighty!
Looking back on key efficiency initiatives in 2025
To manage the massive increase in work volume from the SAS contract transition, as well as the new transition of Procure-to-Pay, the Finance team secured major time savings across our core workflows:

Our 2026 approach to fundamental process change
To find our next big wins, the team adopted a Design Thinking approach. We mapped out our end-to-end processes at a granular level to truly empathize with team pain points. By defining core problems collectively, we were able to shift away from minor, incremental fixes and focus on fundamentally redesigning high-impact areas.
Spotlight on purchase order (PO) input automation
Processing purchase orders (POs) after an invoice went out used to involve a mountain of manual work: digging through Salesforce cases, researching various invoices and customer records in NetSuite, copying data, resending invoices to customers, routing emails to Biz Ops, and manually closing tickets. It meant high operational costs, clunky resource allocation, and slower payment cycles.
Finance partnered with JMP's NetSuite Developer Venu Guntupalli to build a one-click dashboard that completely transforms this process using intelligent, hybrid automation, pairing the traditional SuiteScript with NetSuite’s native large language model (LLM) module to do all the work.
How PO automation works
A script, scheduled hourly, pulls new PO-related cases from the JMP Finance queue in Salesforce Case Management, downloads any attached PDFs, reads them using optical character recognition (OCR), and uses the LLM to extract the PO number, invoice number, customer, and amount.
It effortlessly processes POs written in multiple different languages just as easily as it does in English. The script matches the data against NetSuite invoices, updates the PO field, and logs every decision to a custom record for full audit trail and into the Suitelet Portal or dashboard for easy review.
Then Finance reviews everything from a single dashboard, which gives specific details to aid in decision making. With one click, the script automatically updates NetSuite, resends the invoice to the customer, emails the requester, routes POs to Biz Ops when an invoice does not exist yet, and closes the Salesforce case.
The big payoff: A 90% reduction in manual work! With an average of 175 cases per month involving POs, this is days’ worth of work saved
