The Customer Alliance team is pleased to share the outcome of a recent thought leadership collaboration between JMP and Johnson Matthey, which has now been published in the scientific journal Nature.

Elevating data-driven science on a global stage
This collaboration brings an important message to one of the world’s most influential scientific platforms: that statistical design and data-driven experimentation are reshaping how complex scientific challenges are approached.
The Nature article highlights how modeling multiple variables simultaneously enables researchers to move beyond traditional trial-and-error approaches, accelerating insight, improving predictability, and enabling earlier decision-making in development workflows.
This perspective strongly aligns with the work being done across Johnson Matthey, where teams are advancing a more coordinated, designed-experimentation culture to drive innovation in materials science, catalysis, and sustainable technologies.
Why this matters
This collaboration is a significant step forward for JMP’s visibility and positioning.
Publishing in Nature puts JMP in front of a global audience of senior scientists, R&D leaders, and decision-makers, many of whom influence technology adoption and research direction. It strengthens JMP’s credibility as more than a software provider, elevating our voice in conversations about how modern science is done.
At the same time, it helps address a known challenge: while JMP is highly trusted by existing users, brand awareness remains limited in some key markets. Appearing on a trusted platform like Nature expands our reach in ways traditional marketing cannot.
Ultimately, this isn’t just about one article; it’s about reinforcing JMP’s role in the broader shift towards data-driven, model-based science.
A strong collaboration
We would like to extend a special thanks to Phil Kay (@Phil_Kay) for enthusiastically collaborating with the Customer Alliance team on this article, and to Pilar Gomez-Jimenez at Johnson Matthey for her keen involvement in this project.
Looking ahead
The Customer Alliance team has a second Nature thought leadership article planned for the APxJ region later in 2026.
