What inspired this Wish List Request?
Multiple discussions with strat-semicon customers around the concept of tool matching with respect to metrology tools. They have an interesting need that isn't easily met by the existing orthogonal regression (OREG) capability in Fit Y by X. Using the OREG for comparing two measurement tools (gauges) is easy enough, but most semiconductor fabs run fleets of 10-20 identical tools that need to be matched on a regular and rolling basis. This means that there is a need to compare all pairs using OREG ( 2 choose 10: 49 comparisons, 2 choose 20: 190 comparisons). This seems like a problem that would be well suited for the Response Screening, both from a backend analysis problem and the reporting layer.
This is an opportunity to create something that, Env. Monitoring, addresses a customer pain that they are feeling, but don't know how to articulate effectively.
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see.
Examining Ted Ellefson's Twin Cities JUG presentation, he defines a procedure that could largely be offloaded to Response Screening. The ask is to implement that procedure and provide the pairwise comparisons for the tools (and probably an option to just compare all tools to a reference tool) along with a report detailing the differences and degrees of mismatch. This could be done by borrowing the report from the equivalence testing along with the volcano plot.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided?
This is a common analysis in most manufacturing contexts, even outside of semicon. Having a baked will ease adoption of JMP in these verticals.
Is this an external customer request?
Not a direct request, but an observation of a pain point they are having. I've seen this at Seagate, Globalfoundries, and Entegris.
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?
N/A
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?
This will aid in expansion and retention at manufacturing customers.
