Previously, when investigating climate change in Japan, I used cumulative sum control charts to examine temperature shifts and points of change. During that process, I was analyzing the data from various perspectives through trial and error, so I launched JMP's [Cumulative Sum Control Chart] function many times.
However, selecting a cumulative sum control chart requires navigating through the menu bar to the "Analyze" menu and then navigating to deeper levels of the hierarchy. While this is fine once or twice, frequently repeating this operation can be cumbersome and somewhat burdensome.

In this way, there are probably many cases where " the tasks are predetermined, and the same JMP menu (platform) is always used ."
In fact , JMP allows you to assign shortcut keys to specific platforms or register them to the toolbar. If you set these up, you can quickly launch tools like the [Cumulative Sum Control Chart] shown in the example above.

This time, we will explain how to set it up in an easy-to-understand way.
The following explanation uses the [Cumulative Sum Control Chart] as an example, but similar operations can be used to configure it on other platforms as well.
JMP's menu editor
To assign shortcut keys or register them to the toolbar, first go to the menu bar.
[View] > [Customize] > [Menu Bar and Toolbar]
Select this to open the JMP menu editor .

① Assign shortcut keys to a specific platform
In the JMP menu editor, select [CUSUM (Cumulative Sum) Control Chart] from the "Main Menu" in the upper left corner.
Next, in the "Shortcut" section, assign a new shortcut key. Here, we've assigned "Ctrl + Shift + C" as an example.

Clicking the [Assign] button sets "Ctrl + Shift + C" as the shortcut key for the [Cumulative Sum Control Chart].
Note : Shortcuts that are already assigned to other operations, such as "Ctrl + C" or "Ctrl + V," cannot be used.
② Register a specific platform to the toolbar.
Here's how to set it up: Select an icon ⇒ Create a new toolbar ⇒ Register the cumulative sum control chart to the created toolbar.
a. Icon selection
First, assign the icons you want to display on the toolbar from the "Icons" section.
You can also select from the "built-in icons" that are pre-installed in JMP. Alternatively, you can save your own custom icons as image files and then refer to those files to assign them.

b. Creating a new toolbar
Navigate to the "Toolbar" item in the JMP menu editor.
Select any item within that list, right-click, and select "Create New Toolbar." In the example below, the operation is performed with "First Action" selected.
Here, we'll name the toolbar "Frequently Used Functions." You can also set the "Internal Name" in the "General" section as you like. If there's no particular need to change it, you can leave it at the default value.

c. Add to toolbar
Next, select the items belonging to "Frequently Used Features" and set the "General" and "Actions."
The "Built-in Commands" setting allows you to launch the [Cumulative Sum Control Chart] platform when you click this icon.

Once operations a through c are complete, select from the menu bar.
[View] > [Toolbar]Select it and check the box next to the newly created toolbar, "[Frequently Used Functions]".

This will allow you to display the [CUSUM] icon on the newly created toolbar.

With just a few settings, daily analysis becomes easy.
While we used CUSUM control charts as an example this time, this method can be applied to other JMP platforms as well.
Furthermore, shortcut key and toolbar settings, once configured, are retained even after closing JMP.
By making frequently used functions readily accessible, you can reduce the time spent searching through menus and dedicate more time to the analysis itself.
Please give it a try.
