Jon began his career in residential sales (door-to-door), supporting major telcos with tactical deployments of fiber optic technology. This led to an opportunity to earn a contract with a client and move from Denver, CO, to Portland, OR, where he founded an independent sales and marketing company and managed all aspects of establishing and growing the business while delivering results for his client.
He later transitioned into tech sales at Yahoo Small Business, selling digital marketing solutions, and eventually moved into the IaaS/Cloud space at Amazon Web Services, where he supported customers in the Education Technology industry.
His manager, Briana, asked him the following questions so you could get to know him more:
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself: I was born and raised in Cheyenne, WY. I moved to Fort Collins, CO, for college, and after graduating 
Jon's dog, Baileyfrom Colorado State University, I moved to Denver to start my career. I later relocated to the Pacific Northwest, first living in Portland, and have spent the last four years in Seattle. I’m a huge Mixed Martial Arts fanatic and have followed the sport since I was six years old.
2. Do you have any pets? My dog Bailey. She’s a Lab, Terrier, German Shepherd, and Maltese mix.
3. Are you reading anything right now? Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss
4. Do you prefer the beach or the mountains? Mountains
5. How do you like to start your day? Writing down the five things I’m most grateful for, taking Bailey on her morning walk, and finishing up with a cup of Café Bustelo coffee with creatine.
6. What is your favorite thing to do/place to eat in your local area? I really enjoy the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Most days, weather permitting, Bailey and I are at a dog park or exploring local parks around Seattle. My favorite local place to eat is Ma’Ono, a Hawaiian-style fried chicken restaurant that has the best spicy fried chicken sandwich I’ve had.
7. What is one TV show you never get tired of watching? Invincible
8. What’s your ideal way to spend a weekend? Taking Bailey on an adventure, calling my mom and dad, and getting in a workout at the gym. I like to cap off the day with my weekly cheat meal while watching a UFC event.
9. Fun fact about you? I’m fascinated by understanding how the factors within my control can shape my long-term health outcomes. Intermittent fasting is one example, and I’ve practiced it every day for over six years.
10. Why are you excited about joining JMP? I’m excited to join JMP because of the strength of the product and the role it plays in helping customers solve important problems. I’ve also been thoroughly impressed by the people and culture at JMP. Everyone I’ve met has been intelligent, thoughtful, and kind.
