19.1: Installer testing; signoff expected 3/13/26 • 20.0: open in main • 20 EA2 Freeze 3/19/26
Welcome to the JMP Development Update for March 6, 2026!
As John Sall and Jon Weisz noted at our collaboration lunch in Cary on Wednesday, today (Friday) is Employee Appreciation Day. Of course, JMP appreciates all its employees year-round! There is a nice post in the community highlighting today's importance, with links to a video from Wednesday’s lunch. It’s always nice to see each other and catch up in person when possible, and it's great to wear our JMP sweatshirts before it gets too warm in NC!

In release news, we expect JMP 19.1 to be available in MyJMP on St. Patrick’s Day, the day after our Global Rest and Recharge Day on 3/16. DevOps team members are already setting up the infrastructure for our next monthly security release, 19.1.1, currently planned to be released in mid-April. JMP 20 EA2 freeze is planned for 3/19, so please continue to add and update feature pages with items that are ready to test!
JMP team members are looking forward to another productive round of customer feedback at Discovery Summit Europe next week! At DSE, the PM team plans to have focus group meetings with users on Multivariate Capability, SPC/Capability, Model Center, and Accelerated Stability. Users will also have an opportunity to provide feedback in the JMP Lab on the JMP Assistant, Linked Items, Multivariate Capability, and Significance Brackets in Graph Builder. Mia Stephens asks that you please add your notes from the conference here on the Collected Notes from Discovery Europe 2026 page. Hope everyone has a wonderful time – safe travels to Sorrento, Italy!
Thanks very much to Paul Spychala for presenting at this week’s JMP Dev meeting! Paul shared information on the recent transition the HTML team has made to using ES Modules for Javascript development. If you missed the meeting, you can find a recording here.

JMP Development Updates
Core
- Evan:
- HTML is now copied and used effectively in Teams, Outlook, Word, etc. This produces structured documents with headings, graphs, tables, and more.
- SVG is now copied and used effectively in PowerPoint, Word, etc. This produces vector screenshots.
- Higher resolution monitors now copy higher resolution raster screenshots.
- Dave B: JMP Discovery preparation. Worked with John Schroedl on a new crash handler that will hopefully create crash files for what have been silent crashes like stack overflows. Fixed a couple of drag / drop crashes in graph builder.
- Xan: Added Significance Brackets options to the Graph Builder Bar element. Added basic hover labels to brackets.
- Dan S: Work on linked items to improve report-dirty behaviors and add File>Save/SaveAs dialog.
DOE and Reliability
- Caleb: Working on further improvements to the sample size explorer infrastructure, with the end goal of allowing for full scriptability of those platforms. Also, my paper with Brad Jones and Christ Nachtsheim finally got accepted on Monday!
Hosting and Interfaces
- Michael H: PI Server Import using PI Tags - initial implementation is now pushed for anyone who wants to try it out.
Interactive HTML
- John Powell:
- Working on resolving unit test module loading failures occurring only in our Jenkins build with Chrome on Windows that started when attempting to update Three.js to the latest revision.
- Met with James Koepfler, Haley Tiblin, and Eric Hill to discuss testing of statistical platforms on JMP Live.
- Attended a Q1 Goals Setting workshop for managers.
- Interviewed candidates for our summer intern position.
- Monitored the chat for Paul’s JMP Dev presentation on ES modules.
- Met with Dieter and Paul to review feature requests.
- Mike Stickles: Completed main phase of refactoring Bar Segments (JMPHTML-489). The original issue was simply to separate interval bars into their own subclass, but the final product separates out all implemented bar styles (interval, interval side-by-side, range, bullet, nested, and stacked) into their own subclasses. The final phase - refactoring the loadCache() function into an initialization routine that does not use a cache object and separating out its style-specific functionality into the subclasses - is being deferred to a later time. Currently finishing code clean-up and expect to have the code ready for review sometime Monday.
- Paul Spychala: Have been working on performance improvements last few weeks for JMP HTML.
- This includes reusing a report on an active JMPLive session and keep the report in HTML and JMP in lockstep with each other (JMPHTML-15312).
- Another improvement is to rework how we export HTML profiler formulas to HTML to reduce how many times we create and verify formulas. (JMPHTML-15320)
JMP Live
- Aurora: 19.5 - Change rules for who can move a post. 20 - Replaced some third party packages whose maintenance isn't ideal. Support new summary_count for Process Screening. Other - Whitebox testing.
Statistics
- John Sall
- In the launch dialog, widen the fields to see the new default Action Upper Quantile Prob of 0.99865 (JMP-29875).
- Limit the non-normal capability indexes to applying only for Spec Limits, not Action Limits, adding a "Prob Out of Spec" column. It still does "Prob of Action" if Action limits externally specified (JMP-29876).
- Implement "Test Out Of Spec" for Distribution chart types (JMP-29876).
- Graph the control limits as a step function (JMP-29899).
- In Fit Least Squares Profiler, it was folding into rows with only 7 factors, fixed (JMP-29888).
- In Process Screening:
- Elizabeth: Worked with Meichen on a way to disable the RTMs in GLMM when the platform is embedded in Causal; ultimately followed a template that GenReg uses when it is embedded in various platforms. Working on a fix for a crash in Mixed (JMP-24108) that requires a strange set of steps to produce (including changing modeling type after defining the effects in the dialog).
Stat Testing
- Mark: I am reviewing and revising the documentation and flowchart for the usability study tool with Jacob as we prepare to submit a modified version of the tool to the JMP Marketplace. I modernized and extended the add-in to perform the Grubb's outlier test before submitting it to Addison for testing. I will now modernize the Dixon outlier test.
- Tonya: Testing process screening new features regarding distributional charts: percentile method, spec limits, capability statistics, and test out of spec. Update process screening unit tests due to default action limit changes. Refactoring some unit tests.
- Jacob: Testing JMP-25793, attempting to reproduce other cases of the crash. Investigating Performance issues. Working on the JMP Study Tool, with Mark Bailey.
Life Sciences Updates
- Drew:
- Delivered the JMP Validation Suite add-in to interested parties to deliver to customers for initial feedback. This add-in combines the installer verification tool that Bob builds and posts to the JMP Quality website and the NIST testing tool, runs the tools, and produces a PDF with the results including signature pages for sign-off. This fills a gap with competitor visualization tools that offer this capability.
- Provided JSL example for HyeWon Jung to present to a customer in Korea interested in generating HTML of the JMP Clinical Patient Profiler report.
- Started work on a Clinical Study Report for JMP Clinical which will enable a user to pull together the outputs of other reports in the review and embed them in a user-provided DOCX
- Anisa: Testing documentation for new reports in 19.1, writing unit tests for oncology reports.
Product Management and Product Marketing
- Kaylee: We have held sessions in our sales enablement training series the last two weeks:
- On February 25th we had a training walking through JMP Marketplace updates, success stories, and featured extensions that show how the JMP Marketplace can spark more strategic conversations. From Development, Haley Tiblin and Richard Zink shared the Moderation and Mediation for JMP Pro and Network Plot extensions and how it can further enhance value to customers with JMP and JMP Pro. If you want to learn more, you can watch the recording here.
- We also had a training on the Health and Life Sciences industry this week where Valérie Nedbal, Byron Wingerd, and Andrea Coombs walked through the industry processes and how all the JMP products can add value to the different sectors of this industry. If you want to learn more, you can watch the recording here.
