19.0.5: Release in MyJMP planned for 2/17/26 • 19.1: Security Freeze 2/19/26 • 20.0: open in main • 20 EA2 Freeze 3/19/26
Welcome to the JMP Development Update for February 13, 2025!
JMP QA teams have signed off on our JMP 19.0.5 monthly security release for all products. The JMP Trust Center will include a Security Bulletin for 19.0.5 when released and installers are planned to be in MyJMP on Tuesday next week. Our next release will be the JMP 19.1 maintenance, expected to be available in MyJMP on St. Patrick’s Day (3/17). As usual, we’ll have release notes for 19.1 detailing available bug fixes and minor new features in this release.
Thanks very much to Evan McCorkle for presenting at this week’s dev meeting and much appreciation to Dan Schikore and Jules Parris for monitoring the chat during the demo of the new JMP 20 feature Linked Items! If you missed the meeting, you can find the recording here. I like this new feature already and I really appreciate that the team took the time to learn from customer behavior captured in JMP telemetry. I know it’s shocking to learn that the majority of customers never save or reuse scripts like so many of us do internally, since it can be such a timesaver when replicating or reviewing work! Hopefully this new feature will offer non-scripting customers an easy way to associate work with their JMP tables and save time in the process.
As I mentioned at yesterday’s dev meeting, the nightly JMP 20 installers from 2/19 will be used for testing on the laptops in the JMP Lab at JMP Discovery Summit in Sorrento, Italy in March. Not long after that we will be looking ahead to EA2 freeze – planned for 3/19.
Thanks to Tonya Mauldin for sharing the past two weeks of beta/crash cases with crashes selected!

JMP Development Updates
Statistics
- Jianfeng: Working on multivariate process capability analysis for quite some time, and meaningful progress has been made. Thanks to the support of Chris Gotwalt and Laura Lancaster, the challenging problem of calculating multivariate process capability indices has been successfully resolved. With the help of Xan Gregg, the tolerance region and the engineer-defined specified region can now be clearly distinguished on the multivariate tolerance plot. There is still room for improvement, but I believe the current results are solid enough to begin gathering feedback from internal experts and external users.

- John Sall: In Process Screening, pick the appropriate clause in the “Control Limits” property associated with the control chart type (JMP-29695).
Stat Documentation
- Michael C: Spent the week in training for the Oxygen editor, in preparation for the documentation conversion from FrameMaker to Oxygen.

System/Host Testing-Cary
- Mandy:
- Worked on testing New Data table features like the new Auto Tagging rules feature in JMP 20 -

- It will try and check the columns from tables you are importing to see if tags match - so if you set up basic properties for data types, you can easily assign a tag to those columns without recreating them; MFI also works, and I’ve tried importing .json, .xlsx, .csv, etc and they seem to work well.
- Used the Assistant to create a few data tables with Spec Limits to try and see if those properties could be assigned to tags and reused - more to come on that.
- Received my first 3-4 TS tracks for JMP20EA1, and helped solved a crash that also came in; Verifying JIRA’s as they get fixed and trying to add test where I can.
- Eric Horton:
- Created new Snowflake data connector.
- Verified fix for JMP 20 and 19.1 error when running large Snowflake queries.
- Verified fix for JMP 20 and 19.1 to maintain internal Snowflake connection so when one of multiple Snowflake connections (using the same data connector) is disconnected, the remaining connection is also maintained.
- Verified fix for JMP 20 and 19.1 to improve Excel import performance of the Rental Data section of MovieRental excel file.
- Installed new SQLite ODBC driver and created new SQLite data connector.
- Verified fix for JMP 20 and 19.2 to list tables when connecting to a SQLite database.
- Hunter: Completed JMP 19.0.5 final installer authorization case testing on Mac and Windows. Installed and tested with Jim’s updated JMP Student Edition 20 EA 1 for Mac build. Responded to JMP 20 EA 1 cases. Investigated the status of JMP-28343 with recent Mac Tahoe 26.3 beta and final builds to confirm the hang still occurs when the system goes to sleep. JIRA verifications.
- Justin K: Worked on preparing automation code to test python updates happening with JMP 19.0,5, preparing test strategies for my upcoming JMP 20 stories, and testing the story for JMP supporting all data type conversions for pandas data frames in our python integration.
- Audrey: 19.0.5 testing, discussing and demoing I18N with the group that will focus on this for both desktop JMP and JMP Live, verifications of a few Jira items that came my way, I18N testing for JMP 20 started and I’m helping with that.

Core
- Xan: Starting to get significance brackets to work (with random p-values for now); prepping for correlation focus group review.

- Dan S: Updated text filter where-clause to distinguish between identical strings with different options. Updated Journal thumbnail for dark mode, and saving thumb in "screen" view to match what is seen. Fixed an existing performance issue in Session saving that surfaced due to Linked Report changes. Additional Linked Item work for Projects and improved dirty-report behavior.
- Dave B:
- Tried to recreate a customer Bayesian Optimization crash and found a couple of probably unrelated crashes
- Finished a first pass at supporting add-ins with encrypted jsl files
- Fixed a crash Xan found on the Mac – escape during drag selection
DOE and Reliability
- Caleb: More work on sample size explorer bugs and some more enhancements on the acceptance sampling platform. We gave a special preview of that platform to a user as a follow-up to Discovery meeting and they love it! Also worked on a revision of a Wildtrack paper that we hope to resubmit soon.
Hosting and Interfaces
- John Schroedl: More icon work including selecting alternate image sizes based on screen DPI. Should allow for icons to look sharper when running at higher DPI scaling (JMP-29685). Working on adding larger sizes for many icons and using the Fluent equivalent for many of our custom built-in icons when there is a clear replacement (JMP-29553). Investigating build issues including rolling back to requiring .NET 4.8 instead of 4.8.1 as it is not supported on Windows Server 2019.
- Will: Bug verification for OAuth2 username and password authentication. Working with Databricks, adding a selector for the Catalog and Warehouses to guide the users to make correct selections for their connection. I am also working on Query Builder interfaces with Databricks.
- Paul N:
- Last week:
- Upgraded Python to Python 3.13.12 in JMP 19.0.5, 19.1, 19.2, 20.0.
- Restructure of windows project for pre-built libcurl, zip and zlib libraries built by CMake. Ultimately library sources will be in BitBucket and built and security scanned by Jenkins.
- Worked on EnctyptedZip functionality for Marketplace paid add-ins.
- Internal EncryptedZip class within JMP’s C++
- Python class loader that will allow Python to read Python files and packages directly from the zip file in-memory without unarchiving to disk.
- This Week:
- Helping Jim work through issues with his build scripts due to the project changes.
- Check-in of Python class loader and EncryptedZip code.
- The OpenStreetMap server for JMP 16 and earlier is being flagged by SAS IT as a security liability due running Python 3.6 which is end of life. We believe the server will be able to be shut down. I am watching the log files to determine level of usage. Since Feb 10, 5pm through this morning there was only 1 (likely internal, based on IP address) access. Will continue to monitor next week.
- Copied off configuration files in case we want to resurrect our own MapServer again, but this is likely too massive a machine to be affordable for on AWS and would need to be a physical machine. At the current hardware specs (24 CPU cores, 128G RAM, 4T fast SSD storage) this machine was underpowered and could not render tiles on the fly. Detail levels took weeks of pre-rendering before we brought the server online and new tile requests for non-cached areas can take days. Waiting for a database full backup dump to complete. It’s been running now since the 10th.
Interactive HTML
- Mike Stickles: Participated in JMPHTML team whitebox testing. Continued long-term effort to fully refactor BarSegment and split out different bar styles into subclasses; this week was mainly taking existing methods and splitting out either the common code or style-specific code into separate methods to minimize code duplication and make the result more maintainable. I expect to have code ready to review in 1-2 weeks.
- John Powell:
- Performed whitebox testing for a day and reported observations.
- Worked with Landra and Amy to review and publish two JMP 19 Interactive HTML blogs.
- Completed Heatmap ‘Label By Row’ support (JMPHTML-1268).
- Working on upgrading Three.js (lib used for web-based 3D drawing) from r148 to r182 (JMPHTML-15152).
- Paul Spychala: Finished transitioning our HTML codebase to ECMAScript Modules (JMPHTML-529). Our new tools have uncovered many circular dependencies that we’ve had in our codebase that we need to address. We have already addressed many of the crucial ones and got the list under 100. More work remains however on removing circular dependencies (JMPHTML-15286).
JMP Live
- Aurora: 19.5 - Lots of bug fixing. 20.0 - Process Screening triage planning. Other - Lots of Confluence article updates and additions. Third party package updates.
