Over the past few years, JMP has invested heavily in educational content to help broad audiences discover JMP through search engines and LLMs. The Statistics Knowledge Portal (SKP) is a prime example of this approach.
To complement this work, the Digital Marketing team has launched a new type of content designed for practitioners: pillar pages. While SKP focuses on foundational understanding and discovery, pillar pages are built for scientists and engineers seeking to explore real-world use cases.
The goal of these pages is to establish credibility and highlight relevant solutions through concise, expert insight and practical examples, reinforcing JMP as a trusted authority.
Functional data analysis: Our first pillar topic
Our first set of pillar pages, published in late December, focuses on functional data analysis (FDA). Selected with input from Pre-Sales Support Director Phil Kay (@Phil_Kay), FDA is a strong example of a topic that closely aligns with JMP’s software capabilities and domain expertise.
These pages not only define the concept, but they also explain common use cases and walk readers through the major stages of performing functional data analysis, including data preparation and techniques such as functional principal component analysis.
Pre-Sales Support Manager Peter Hersh (@Peter_Hersh) served as the primary subject matter expert and content author. Throughout the pages, he shares observations drawn from personal experience, underscoring the authenticity of the content. This human element is especially important for practitioners who are evaluating not just a method, but whether they can trust a tool and the team behind it.
Designed to support solution evaluation
A key component of the FDA pillar pages is a series of short videos demonstrating how specific aspects of the analysis are performed in JMP Pro, with particular emphasis on the Functional Data Explorer platform. These videos are intentionally outcome-oriented, showing how complexity is reduced and workflows are made more manageable.
For readers who may be actively seeking a better way to analyze their functional data, each page also includes a prominent call to action to connect with JMP by filling out a contact form. This approach is designed to generate conversations with potential JMP Pro users interested in functional data analysis.
What’s next?
Functional data analysis is the first step in a broader pillar page initiative. Bayesian optimization is slated as the next topic, with content planning already underway. Additional topics, including quality by design, are under consideration.
Together with SKP, pillar pages help JMP engage targeted audiences with distinct intents: building awareness and demonstrating value for those deciding on statistical software solutions. Both are essential to guiding buyers in an AI-driven search landscape.
While the new FDA pages are already being cited by LLMs and attracting visitors, we don’t need to sit back and wait for people to find them on their own. Please feel free to share them on social media or directly with customers and prospects who could benefit. Every share helps amplify JMP’s expertise and connect practitioners to practical solutions.
