Hi,
Someone I know is writing a book on DOE and industrial problem solving. They want to include case study stories. They don't need to be true stories, but need to feel real and have a basis in the real world. (Like the case studies in the Goos & Jones Optimal DOE book). In particular he is looking for an example that fits the description below. Any suggestions of a story or some data (or both) that he could use?
Thanks,
Phil
"We are looking for an example with data of a process/product development, where we can show the power of (definitive) screening, following up with a modelling/optimisation design, and show that the DoE approach can deliver operating windows and instructions, how to change process parameters to ensure quality by design. Preferably there should be a simulator for people to play around with.
Ideally the example should also offer the option to go directly into optimisation using Bayesian Optimisation, to show the benefits and drawbacks of both approaches.
We also would need a bit of the background story to the example, as we want to tell an illustrative story on how a team might use DoE in the real world to solve a problem."
The attached is a little light on the story/background aspect, but it shows DSD well, there's a simulator, and it can go directly into BayesOpt, although some detail could be added there. Happy to add detail if needed. This was part of a DOE presentation on modern methods last year before 19 was released.
Very nice. Thanks, @Jed_Campbell !
