While JMP has long been known as a powerful tool for data visualization and analysis, it’s also great for learning and teaching statistics. Charged with introducing JMP to the next generation of users, the JMP Global Academic Team is constantly looking for ways to expand JMP’s footprint in academia and create connections with future users that will last a lifetime.
With that mission in mind, the JMP Global Academic Team has unveiled a redesigned homepage created to better support educators. Led by Senior Global Academic Program Manager Paolo Chiappa (@paolo_chiappa) and Director Curt Hinrichs (@curt_hinrichs) – with support from colleagues across JMP’s Global Marketing and Web teams – the project used web traffic patterns, engagement data, and direct feedback from educators to guide the redesign. The result is a move away from persona-based content toward a more focused experience tailored to the group driving the most academic adoption: university professors.
“Though we serve faculty, students, and researchers at degree-granting institutions, our greatest source of growth in the academic market comes from convincing professors to use JMP in their courses,” Hinrichs explained. The new page highlights exactly that, showcasing how JMP’s visual and interactive approach to data analysis helps students grasp complex statistical concepts. The site also spotlights resources instructors rely on most, including the free JMP Student Edition, our comprehensive library of course materials, real-world case studies, and step-by-step teaching tutorials, demonstrating how easy it is to teach JMP.
The new site also addresses the summarized answers users receive in AI snippets by presenting information in a clearer and more useful way. “We’ve implemented semantic optimization to better cater to AI-curated responses, ensuring our materials are prioritized in 'zero-click' search environments,” Chiappa said.
The new English-language homepage launched on Oct. 16, followed by translated versions across all other JMP-supported languages in early November. Early results have been overwhelmingly positive: engagement is up nearly 5%, bounce rates have dropped more than 16%, and visitors are spending over 60% more time exploring the page.
Since the launch, the team has continued refining the design – shortening banner text, adjusting call-to-action placement, and emphasizing industry usage to improve clarity and engagement. Hinrichs said Andretti Brown (@Andretti_Brown) (Web team) and Larry LaRusso (@Larry_LaRusso) (Global Marketing) have been instrumental in both developing the new homepage and implementing refinements.
With the new homepage in place just in time for the spring semester, and early engagement trending upward, the team is energized to keep improving the web experience for educators, simplifying access to teaching resources, and expanding JMP’s impact in classrooms around the world.
The redesign looks great, excited to see the impact it will have!
