19.0.4: security fixes only • 19.1: all changes require code review and 4 approvals • 20.0: open in main • 20 EA1: freeze on 1/22/26
Special reminder from Trish: JMP 19.1 dev code freeze is scheduled for Monday 1/5/26. Please attend to your new strings that are currently “stuck” and if they should be extracted, please take the steps necessary to free them. When you get back from your holiday break, please also triage strings from the 1/4/26 run. Thank you!
Welcome to the JMP Development Update for December 19, 2025!
We released 19.0.3 this week for all JMP products. Thanks to all who were involved in this monthly release! As a reminder, while most “dot-dot” releases include security fixes only, our XX.X.3 releases permit inclusion of select critical functional bug fixes. Such functional fixes must be approved through a special Jira-based approval process involving PM/customer care, security and testing managers. In 19.0.3, a handful of critical fixes were made to JMP desktop code along with required security updates. You can download the release notes for 19.0.3 functional fixes here and find the 19.0.3 Security Bulletins in the JMP Trust Center here. With 19.0.3 work now concluded, DevOps has now been working on getting 19.0.4 infrastructure up and tested. Meanwhile, JMP 19.1 Approval mode also continued this week, with requests made so far linked under this epic.
As we move towards our first EA planned to freeze on 1/22/26, please continue to add Feature pages following this How to page (updated for JMP 20, thanks to Mia!). Feature pages summarize planned and ongoing work in a customer-friendly way. The Motivation and Summary part of a feature page is especially important since that text is directly excerpted into the product management single source document that is used when preparing content for the EA webpage and New Feature page that appears at launch.
Speaking of features, please also take a few moments to review this Confluence page about How to use feature requests and comment on the page if you have questions or want to request clarifications. JMP’s feature request process (and the related wishlist process managed by JMP product management) have continued to evolve over the last few cycles and that page captures how we are currently using feature requests as a way to capture, research and triage customer requests flowing in from many sources.
I hope you all took some time to watch the JMP 2025 End of Year Company Update recording that posted this week! It delivered good news about JMP revenue growth in 2025, amidst the many changes, uncertainties and unexpected bumps in the road that came along the way this year. A big congratulations to the JMP Spotlight Award winners announced in the webcast!
Senior events technology specialist Henry Moore was recognized for his significant technical contributions to the recently developed JMP Studio (where the update webcast was recorded!), his expertise and efficiency while producing a wide array of JMP 19 launch assets, and his contributions to process improvements when working with external vendors and internal contracts. If you’ve visited Henry’s office then you know he is a Lego fan. Clearly, his team is grateful to have Henry putting the pieces together with them every day!
It was also fantastic to see the JMP Engagement team led by Gary Catalfu recognized with a group award! This expanding team under Wendy Murphrey’s JMP Technical Support team has taken on a heavy load including authorization and RPS cases, in addition to many other customer inquiries. In the few short years of its existence, this team has become an indispensable part of JMP’s global customer support efforts.
Also, a special shout-out to our Spotlight winners from development! JMP Live developer Aurora Tiffany-Davis won an individual award for her JMP Live work including outstanding customer outreach at Discovery events around the world (nominated by Dan V). Analytics Software Tester Yeng Saanchi also won an individual Spotlight award recognizing her careful testing efforts for the Sample Size Explorers and Bayesian Optimization platforms, her work on US patents with the JMP team, and her presentations to internal and external audiences.
Last but certainly not least, the JMP security team (Travis Lapolla, Alex Taylor, Paul Nelson, Kristen Slappey, Justin Chilton, John Schroedl, Nick Ruva and Shannon Leslie) also won for their collaboration in fostering Security-first culture at JMP and JMP Live. This team has played a critically important role as we have transitioned from 6-month release cycles in JMP 17.X to bi-monthly in 18.X, then monthly releases in JMP 19.X that allow us to patch third party vulnerabilities on industry standard timeframes. Both the JMP Engagement team and the JMP Security team are also highlighted in Part 5 of the 2025 Year in Review posts on Inside JMP. Hopefully you also had a chance to see this one, and other parts of the series too!

System/Host Testing-Cary
- Mandy: Worked on some JIRA’s, testing and making sure things at 20 were okay to push back to 19.1. Did some Mac/Windows testing of playpens for developers on Filter View being added to platforms, and the Dynamic table (Summary, Stack, Split, Transpose) fixes - both of these are in development and not pushed to Main quite yet. Chasing down a few Tahoe Mac issues - one with slowness that seems to pop up at random times, and windows don’t seem to want to close - opened JMP-29140 for this and trying to find a sequence of things to do to get to this state.
- Audrey: After Shannon C found that a Jira issue was missing from our “all JMP Jira Issues” table, I investigated and found that several were missing. I still don’t understand why, but I’ve re-pulled our data so we have a complete set for the purpose of our Crash Data and other processes. Finished up Q4 reviews, cleaning up JMPSRV01 files, tweaking our installer testing validation scripts. See you all next year!

DOE and Reliability
- Caleb: Continued work on my acceptance sampling prototype, trying to finish up the plan construction algorithm. I also got to join the DOE team for our holiday lunch.
Interactive HTML
- John Powell:
- Replacing the use of the 3D view controller (TrackballControls.js) used in Scatterplot 3D with a new one since it has been deprecated from the latest version of three.js (JMPHTML-15152).
- Fixed up my old blogs affected by requiring login to view content in the All Users space on JMP Public.

- Finished module 2 of the STIPS course.
- Year-end discussions.
- Mike Stickles: Began working on JMPHTML-489 (Refactor Interval bars to subclass). This will be a major refactoring effort due to the complexity of the BarSegment code; I expect it to take a few weeks, especially since it might require implementing other subclassing (such as error bars) to make it work properly.
JMP Live
- Aurora: 19.0: Gave some tips to Tech Support for a customer control chart triage issue. 19.5: Third party package updates. Usability tests for Data Editing. 20.0: Support for multi-variable groups in Process Screening (ongoing). Other: Iteration demo and retrospective.
Statistics
- John Sall:
- In Recurrence - If Begin Time is specified, the Profiler now formats for a time interval rather than a time (in 19.1 also) (JMP-29033).
- In Process Screening
- Extend "Connect Through Missing" to apply to limits lines (JMP-28977).
- You can now control which limits are applied, adding the ability to specify lower control limits in dispersion charts. Also initial work on non-symmetric limits testing (JMP-28962).
- In Survival, many changes (JMP-29067)
- Change the title from “Product-Limit Survival Fit” to just “Survival”
- Put all the Distribution menu items into a submenu titles “Distribution Fitting”
- Add ID role to prepare for when each subject has multiple rows corresponding to time-varying covariate changes. Currently all but the last time event are skipped.
- Add Cause role and loop through each cause having the other causes become censored to this.
- The current Competing Causes command still works and has some features that the new implementation doesn't do, including Omit Cause, and Simulate, but it only does Weibull fit and doesn't interact with the Cause role except not needing to prompt for it, if specified at launch.
- Add a "Fit Proportional Hazards" menu item that adds an effect specification dialog. (Preliminary work)
- Fix the legend for "Show Combined"
- Meichen will take over new work, including the Fit Proportional Hazards Cox model.
- Laura L: Worked on improving the telemetry for Variability Chart to try to help figure out how often users use that platform only for the chart. After working on the telemetry for that platform, I wrote a confluence page about what I learned in hopes that it might help others - How to Improve Telemetry Instrumentation of JMP Platforms if you’re interested.
- Elizabeth: Pushed work for tolerance intervals for mixed models (JMP-9836); Confluence page forthcoming. Fixed customer reported crash in SVM (JMP-29147). Happy Holidays!
Stat Testing
- Mark: Removed the blocking by day in the unit test script for the Gaussian process modeling in the Bayes Opt platform so that all tests were run every day. The results demonstrated that the 193 failures are reproducible and all of them occur on a single test machine, 2000MacTAMX. I worked with Jacob to resolve a few failures in the image comparison of the Factor Plots in the unit test script for the Data Entry step in Easy DOE. I am working with Mia to arrange a meeting with internal DOE experts to discuss enhancements to the Report step and the random coefficients feature in Easy DOE.
- Tonya: Testing new features in Process Screening. Bug verification.
Life Sciences Updates
- Drew: Helping to triage and fix the last few JMP Clinical 19.1 bugs. Code review and integration of Jiras into 19.1 per approval process. Prepare content and slides with Rebecca for Discovery.
- Richard: Finishing first draft on a chapter for AE analysis for a book on clinical trials.
Note from Shannon
Thanks to JMP’s resident historian Bob Hickey for pointing out that the release of 19.0.3 this week coincided nicely with the anniversary of the first sustained, controlled, powered flight by the Wright Flyer here in North Carolina on December 17, 1903!

And with that, I am signing off for the holiday break. Hope that those of you in NC take advantage of the upcoming spring-like temps to get outside! It might still be getting dark early, but I’m really looking forward to a break from the winter cold. Have a restful and joyous holiday season!
