19.0.3: signoffs complete; release planned 12/16/25 • 19.1: all changes require code review and approval • 20.0: open in main • 20 EA1: 1/22/26
Welcome to the JMP Development Update for December 12, 2025!
Congratulations go out this week to the JMP DOE team on the occasion of (another!) patent being issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent is titled Interactive Tool for Design and Analysis of Experiments with Different Usage Modes and was issued on 2025-11-18 as U.S. Patent No. 12,475,270, in collaboration with JMP alum Bradley Jones. A copy of the patent has been uploaded to the SAS Sharepoint site: Issued Patents. Well done, team!
JMP 19.0.3 signoffs were completed today and installers are planned to post in MyJMP on next Tuesday, 12/16. Since 19.0.3 includes a small number of functional bug fixes that impact JMP, JMP Student Edition, JMP Pro and JMP Clinical, we will have release notes detailing those changes. Thanks to Susan Conaghan for working with development to finalize release notes this week! Also, thanks to Shannon Leslie for compiling the JMP 19.0.3 Security Bulletins that will be posted to the JMP Trust Center to detail security related updates for our products.
We are now in Approval Mode for JMP/JMP Pro/JMP Student 19.1. As noted in Melanie’s reminder about this milestone, after we enter approval mode, please:
- continue to have your bug fixes reviewed by a colleague – code reviews are required in maintenance!
- send a request to the JMP Approvers email list with the name of your reviewer and information on the proposed change:
- a short description of the issue, Jira link and Swarm link if applicable
- comments on any expected impact of the change for testing
Approvers will reply directly to you and not to the whole list. Once you have received four approvals, please send a note to JMP Approvers to say so. If you are lacking an approver or two, please send another email noting how many approvers you still need to get to the required 4. If any approver replies with an objection to your proposed change, we will either discuss it with dev managers in the next Ops meeting or arrange another time to meet over Teams to discuss the proposed change and decide whether to proceed.
Earlier this week, Robin Betters sent an email reminding us that JMP has our last pick up for the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Holiday Food Drive in Building A in one week. As Robin noted, we would love to fill the bins again before the holidays! Not sure what to donate? Here is some general info I found on the Feeding America blog that you can consider when purchasing items to donate to Interfaith Food Shuttle (or another food pantry):
Food banks accept dry and canned food donations. What does that mean? Basically, any food that is “shelf-stable” or nonperishable – you can keep it in your pantry and it won’t go bad. And remember, only donate food that hasn’t reached its “sell-by” date yet. Specifically, food banks often need items like:
Peanut butter, Canned soup, Canned fruit, Canned vegetables, Canned stew, Canned fish, Canned beans, Pasta (most prefer whole grain), and Rice (most prefer brown rice).
Food banks may also accept personal care and common household items that are not covered by federal or state support programs. If you work remotely or are not planning to be in the office next week, you can also elect to donate to the Interfaith Food Shuttle online here or find a similar organization in your area.
Thanks to Shannon Leslie for sharing the December 9, 2025, product changes for our Atlassian products!
On December 9, Atlassian rolled out changes to our Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket Cloud sites. A list of relevant changes along with highlighted details and documentation can be found here.
The changes include:
- Jira 'projects' has been renamed to 'spaces'
- Jira calendar now supports week view in addition to month view
- Additional options added to the command palette for Jira
- And more!
Contact Shannon Leslie or any of the other JMP Atlassian admins with questions. Also check out our JMP Atlassian Q&A Teams channel, where this and other Atlassian information will continue to be shared.

JMP Development Updates

- Evan: Rewriting the Telemetry Explorer Add-In to pull directly from the telemetry database.
DOE and Reliability
- Caleb: Finished some work on improving the sample size explorer infrastructure. I also am finishing up a prototype acceptance sampling platform that extends the current profiler. Nora had the pleasure of two snow days this week!

Hosting and Interfaces
- Paul: Updated JMP 20 and JMP 19.1 to Python 3.13.11. Researching JMP-29061 – a new tester that came from SAS had PYTHONPATH and pip.ini setting configured which affected JMP and its ability to install packages. Researching ways to further isolate the JMP Python and Pip environment from standard environment variables and config files.
- Will: Finished up some remaining MATLAB Jiras before 19.1 code approval mode began. Working on improving the ODBC based data connectors to properly show and filter schemas when appropriate.
Interactive HTML
- Mike Stickles:
- Pushed fix for issue with fix on JMPHTML-14956 (Band style error bars not exported properly with points in graph builder with a color variable). Issue was then passed by testing and sent back to Development in case the JMP fix that triggered this gets pushed into 19.1 before code freeze.
- Finished fix for JMPHTML-15181 (Render error bars that are sized by variable or count as static). This was necessitated by the same JMP bug fix that triggered 14956.
- Participated in whitebox testing, one Line bug found and logged.
- John Powell:
- Split 3D Points Segment code from SceneBox class into its own JavaScript class(JMPHTML-15146).
- Refactored duplicated code to parse GroupRowStateAbility information(JMPHTML-14713).
- Started to investigate upgrading three.js from version 148 to the latest – version 180( JMPHTML-15152) .
- Performed a day of whitebox testing, met to discuss findings, and create bugs.
- Discussed JMP Live user’s Wish List items with Dieter and Paul.
- Brainstormed ideas for saving changes made while viewing a report on JMP Live with Justin, Michael, and Paul.
- Provided input for year-end review
JMP Live
- Aurora: 19.5: Helped out with testing. Fixed a few small bugs. 20.0: Made great progress on supporting qc_group for Process Screening triage. Other: Wrote a few Confluence articles, sprint planning, answering some questions about admin roles in JMP Live.
Stat Documentation
- Michael C: Documented a few features in 19.1 for Fit Model and Reliability Forecast. Worked with Karen, Colleen, and Hamid to get all 9 stat books prepped for a test production build of the 19.1 help. Attended meetings about improving the new feature documentation process. Planned for Discovery staffing from Stat R&D.
Stat Testing
- Mark: I switched the unit tests for fitting the Gaussian Process model in Bayesian Optimization from comparing individual response predictions to linear regression of sets of responses. I am using strict comparisons to identify problem cases for Kasia and Chris to investigate. These tests are failing consistently on two machines. Participated in practice sessions for Kasia who is preparing to present to the SAS Patent Committee today. Working with Ryan, Joseph, and Jacob on two potential enhancements for Easy DOE in JMP 20: custom random coefficients and the Report tab.
- Jacob: Testing OML Designs, writing unit tests for backing up and creating new designs. Opening tickets for issues found testing this in debug builds. Testing OC Curves for 19.1. Investigating potential performance issues.
- Haley: Verified bug fixes in 19.1 for SEM and Causal Treatment. Enjoyed coming to Cary for a couple days to meet with team members, participate in Stat Dev lunch and holiday potluck lunch!
Technical Support and Engagement
- Wendy:
- Happy Friday! The Support teams are continuing to focus on user support requests and end of year tasks. We will post the operational status for Winter Break on the Community and in auto-reply emails that are sent when cases are opened.
- Thanks to everyone who brought items and helped set up/clean up for the Winter Potluck this week. We always enjoy the delicious food and seeing everyone!
- Below are the usual graphs for case volume as well as topics for both Tech Support and Engagement. Here are the TS JMP Live reports and the link to the Jira filter showing the tickets reported by Support for the last 14 days.
