19.0.3: final image candidates 12/7/25 • 19.1: all changes require code review – approval begins 12/11/25 • 20.0: open in main • 20 EA1: 1/22/26
Welcome to the JMP Development Update for December 5, 2025!
In the US, I hope everyone enjoyed the time off for Thanksgiving! As we near the end of the year, there are a lot of holidays coming up. Don’t forget to use your floating holiday allocation, if you haven’t already done so. Sorry I didn’t send out the (wonky, weekends-last) December holidays calendar earlier, I’m told we already missed Cookie Day. Darn! But don’t worry, you can eat cookies any day and Ugly Christmas Sweater Day is just around the corner!
A reminder that we are entering JMP 19.1 Approval Mode at the end of the day on Thursday 12/11/25. There should be an Outlook reminder on your calendar with more details about the Code Approval process. (If you don’t have one, please contact Melanie Drake and she can refresh the invite). Here are the basics:
- Discuss any proposed fixes for approval mode with your manager first
- Push a fix into 20 for pre-testing, if at all possible
- Request a code review on your shelved change prior to pushing any code to 19.1
- Request approval from the JMP Approvers list. Email the list to say when you have received 4 approvals, or if you need additional ones to get to 4.
I noticed in the InsideJMP Anniversaries, New Hires, On the Move, and Kudos: November 2025 article that there was a nice kudos from stat doc manager Michael Crotty to doc team member Jill Amaya recognizing her work on a unified JMP doc style guide for technical and stat writers! Jill says that this was a great collaborative effort between our writing teams and everyone is glad to have a single source to use. Thanks to our doc teams for collaborating on this shared resource!
And I also saw in the article that principal developer David Barbour of the Core team celebrated his 30 year milestone anniversary! I have worked a lot with Dave over the years, mostly bugging him for his help with JMP crashes (which he always graciously provides with superb detail) and marveling at how he can replicate some of the most puzzling cases with a snippet of JSL after peering into the magical crash files that are Greek to me. In addition to his feature work on Multiple File Import, PDF import, journals, add-ins, Graph Builder and various other areas of JMP, Dave is of course also well-known as the inventor and maintainer of the Windows jmprunner application. Many of us in R&D use jmprunner daily while investigating issues in desktop JMP. Just this week Dave added the ability for jmprunner to work with our new Windows ARM builds and he is always working on tweaks in response to internal customer requests. Please join me in offering a big congrats on this milestone!
Also, thanks to birthday boy Bob Hickey (he celebrates tomorrow!) for sending out an email this week with details about our existing mechanism to get installers from OneDrive. If you missed it, you can find the details here in Confluence. OneDrive sync is the best way for development staff to get their favorite flavor of JMP installers copied to their machines daily. Also, Bob mentioned that JMP’s Salesforce instance has an update period over the weekend so some SF-related systems may be in read-only mode.

- Fixed a crash when a column’s value label property defines a label to be used for categories that don’t have assigned value labels and that label contains a quotation mark(JMPHTML-15144).
- Held an end of JMP 19 development cycle retrospective.
- Created and began planning our first JMP 20 sprint where we will focus on refactoring.

- Reviewed JMP Live SPC documentation.
- Paul Spychala: Initial commit of Contour Profiler (JMPHTML-13612) in interactive HTML and JMPLive. This will enable the standalone contour profilers in the graph menu as well as embedded contour profiler in platforms that support html profilers. Also sneaking in a few bug fixes into 20/19.1. Layout issues with lineup boxes (JMPHTML-15139, JMPHTML-15137)

Helped Colleen deliver gifts for 2 families that Stat R&D adopted through the Wake County Holiday Cheer program.
Stat Testing
- Mark: I attended another tour of the reliability platforms by Rajneesh. I continue investigating inconsistencies between vetted historical predictions and new predictions by the Bayesian Optimization platform for 400 cases with help from Jacob. I discovered a drastic slowdown in the Fit Line command of Bivariate when there are many By groups since a recent change in JMP 20 for a progress bar. I am running simulations to discover and validate a transformation of the current distribution of random coefficients used in the response simulation in DOE to yield a desired output range from the user.
- Tonya: Attended a harmonization meeting about Process Screening, CCB, and Process Capability. I've been testing new features in Process Screening. I've also been looking for differences between the 3 platforms (Process Screening, Process Capability, and Process Screening).

Ran through installation and authorization (both online and offline) with all four JMP 19.0.3 products on Mac and Windows in preparation for final installer testing next week. Ran some tests for Bob Hickey and Holly Cullen on the My JMP test pages to verify the links for downloading Early Adopter builds including the new links for Arm64 JMP on Windows.
Note from Shannon
Thanks to DOE and Reliability developer Caleb King for sending along this winter picture! He says, “We got 2 inches of snow here in Roanoke! No preschool for Nora today.” Speaking of Roanoke, it was great to see our other Roanoke, VA resident Core team developer Jared Thomas in the office on Thursday. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
