Despite facing four major event pivots, the JMP events team recently delivered a resounding success with the JMP Discovery China online event on Nov. 20. This fully pre-recorded, on-demand event showcased the incredible resilience and "all hands on deck" spirit of our JMP staff.
A testament to teamwork
The original in-person event, scheduled for May, was forced online and then completely pre-recorded after the critical decision to close the mainland China offices on Oct. 29. The project turned into a "24-hour relay race" for nine days to meet the deadline.
Senior Events Technology Specialist Henry Moore (@HenryMooreThird) recalled the extraordinary effort in the recent Global Marketing meeting. "This was the event that almost didn't happen – four times – but showed the resilience of our global collaborators to beat the impossible odds,” he said. “This could have easily been a task that people would have thrown their hands up and let it fall to the wayside. But when JMP leadership put out the call and said we want to make sure our customers are taken care of, everybody jumped in and answered that call."
Marketing Manager Jeff Hudgins (@jhudgins) expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the event's execution and highlighted some specific staff members who went above and beyond. "Without the tireless work of Henry Moore, Roger Alford (@roger_alford), and Yan Ying Chan (@YanYing_C), I don’t believe we could have achieved a successful deployment of such an important event,” Hudgins said. “Overall, the truly global effort that JMPers from around the world took on and hit such an incredible home run with for our customers was the most gratifying experience."
Huge congratulations and appreciation go to the entire team, including special recognition for:
- Meichen Dong (@MeichenDong) hosted the event and delivered the script fluently in Chinese, effortlessly keeping up with the teleprompter's pace.
- Pin Hu (@PIN), who developed an amazing presentation on JMP 19 features while also successfully organizing the AP SE Summit.
- JMP team family members in mainland China, who provided invaluable assistance by testing videos against the “Great Firewall of China.”
- The Chinese-speaking staff in Taiwan, Singapore, and Malaysia – including Tyson Wu (@Tyson_Wu) and Eric Wang (@Eric_Wang) – for their quick-turn support in reviewing customer presentations.
- The extensive list of contributors spans Marketing, Web, Legal, Procurement, Finance, Customer Engagement, Technical Support, Digital Operations, Pre-Sales Support, Communications, and JMP leadership.
The team's success in navigating constant changes, technical hurdles, and aggressive deadlines underscores JMP’s unwavering focus on its global customer base.
