Feedback and ideas for 2026 Scripters ClubHere are my notes from the call this week. Please add your comments below.
Next week I´ll try to speak with the Education for their possible involvement on the club.
Have sessions with a lead topic with follow-up discussion
Short presentation:
Understanding how JMP and JSL works
How to´s from past sessions
Discussion: strong moderator
Purpose of Scripters Club: Give more voice to the scripters in front of JMP so that they show more interest on improvements
-
Many advanced scripters joining, that would be more interested on discussion
-
Also beginners that want to learn and find a community
Idea: Edu could share 10 - 15 min demos and links to resources
Jarmo: Best material in my opinion for scripting / programming is text-based which has supporting video
Idea:
-
quartery discussion meetings, Meet the expert, discussion on what is missing.
-
Quarterly "learning" sessions, with beginner topics (maybe from EDU) + practical examples
Re: Feedback and ideas for 2026 Scripters ClubHi @jthi , @Georg , @Mauro_Gerber , @hogi
I could finally speak with the Education team and Scott Allen, who is now leading the Marketplace efforts.
We discussed some of the challenges and opportunities of using LLMs to script, and we came up with an idea for 3 possible meetings.
- What do you think? these topics are for both, beginners and advances (who would like convince more people to start scripting).
- What would be still missing for more advanced scripters?
- How would be your involvement on those topics?
Probably we would beginn the sessions no earlier than May.
Looking forward to your inputs.
Webinar 1 — What LLMs Can Do for JSL
A practical introduction showing how LLMs like Claude and Gemini can generate useful JSL quickly.
We’ll demo prompts such as “Build a dashboard from these reports,” “Write a function that does X,” or “Create a display box with buttons,” and highlight what works well—and what to watch out for.
Objectives
-
Understand the kinds of JSL tasks LLMs can generate.
-
See real demos of useful and less‑useful outputs.
-
Learn prompt strategies to get cleaner JSL.
Webinar 2 — When LLMs Fail at JSL (and How to Fix It)
A focused look at common problems: hallucinated JSL functions, incomplete display boxes, or scripts that don’t interact with the report layer.
We’ll walk through real examples and show simple strategies to debug and clean up imperfect AI‑generated code.
Objectives
-
Recognize recurring LLM errors in JSL generation.
-
Learn strategies for debugging LLM‑generated scripts.
-
Understand when and why LLMs produce unreliable JSL.
Webinar 3 — Using LLMs to Accelerate Your JSL Learning
How to use LLMs as a companion to speed up your JSL workflow: asking for annotated examples, turning documentation into step‑by‑step explanations, or building a customized learning path.
Includes pointers to official JMP resources like JMP Scripting Index , the scripting course, and Community discussions.
Objectives
-
Learn how LLMs can accelerate your JSL learning.
-
Use LLMs to build structured learning paths.
-
Combine LLM help with JMP’s official JSL resources.
Re: Feedback and ideas for 2026 Scripters ClubI think this is a great idea
Webinar 1 with the last point about how to build a good prompt
Will you show why LLMs generate functions in JSL that aren't there? I let copilot write a script to when I run it, it will enter the current time stamp into the selected cell. but it used now() instead of today().
Would it also cover that you could give a LLM codes already done and ask it to refine/improve it?
Looking forward for this as it may help new users but also can make it frustrating when small parts refuse to run.
Re: Feedback and ideas for 2026 Scripters Club@scott_allen adding you in the conversation.
Re: Feedback and ideas for 2026 Scripters ClubHi,
great idea!
The improvements with the latest LLMs models are tremendous.
I have to admit, I am just a beginner - little to contribute besides my enthusiasm
... and a lot of questions:
Error message - which line?
AI scripting - misleading log ...
