What inspired this Wish List Request?
This is a suggestion form Tadashi Mitusi-sama, a steering committee member for Discovery Summit Japan.
I got this suggestion on Nov 7th at Discovery Summit Japan 2025.
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see.
Run the script below, and see the legend.
Names Default To Here( 1 );
dt = Open( "$SAMPLE_DATA/Probe.jmp" );
obj = dt << Response Screening(
Y( :DELL_RPNBR, :DELL_RPPBR, :DELW_M1, :DELW_M2, :DELW_NBASE ),
X( :Process )
);
One item in the legends says "PValue 0.05 Threshold". This item is translated to Japanese directly.
When Mitsui-sama teach Reponse Screening in his seminar for JMP, he always think the words, "PValue 0.05 Threshold", are misleading. It soulds like that "the line shows that p-values are less than 0.05".
It must say that "If you reject the response variables belew this line, you can keep FDR less than 5%". I do not know the good word, but I agree on him that the current words are not easy to understand. If you decide that you will not change the current words, I would like to change at least in Japanese (Although I cannot find good words for describing this line.)
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided?
If we found a good wording, users will come to understand what the line means easiliy.
Is this an external customer request?
Yes, Tadashi Mitsusi-sama suggested this at Discovery Summit 2025.
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?
I do not think so. The Response Screening is a unique feature in JMP. Although some statisticians (Efron's Large-Scale Inference: Empirical Bayes Methods for Estimation, Testing and Prediction) considered this kind of screening, I do not think the other software has this kind of screening feature.
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?
No.
