19.0.2: security fixes only till 11/6/25 • 19.1: all changes require code review – features are frozen - approval begins 12/11 • 20.0: open in main • 20 EA1: 1/22/26
Welcome to the JMP Development Update for October 31, 2025! Happy Halloween!
Now that we have passed JMP 19.1 Feature Freeze, we are looking forward to the start of Code Approval Mode on 12/11/25 and then JMP 19.1 Code Freeze after we return from the holiday break (1/5/26). Reminder from Qiana: The deadline to request new sample data or updates to existing sample data for 19.1 is next Friday, November 7. Also, please attend to any stuck strings in 19.1 ASAP. The developer deadline for the final handoff of portable UI strings is next Thursday, November 6.
Thanks to everyone for continuing to contribute to the notes from JMP Discovery Summit in Austin! If you missed the recap article on Inside JMP, you can find it here. Congratulations to all on a very successful event!
Finally, please continue triaging your files in the users area on jmpsrv01 and remove old files that you no longer need. As a reminder, personal files should not be stored in this location, and data containing PII also should not be stored there. Managers should examine folders for any direct reports who have left the company, remove files no longer needed and relocate files that are still needed to a more permanent location. Thanks!

JMP Development Updates
Core
- Xan: Border graph work: rug plots and density strip plots.

- Dave B: Fixed a few more jmprunner regressions from the network permissions changes. Fixed a loss of precision bug that caused canvas circle drawing function to fail. Made it easier to get out of axis label edit mode in graph builder.
- Dan S: Accessibility work - tab focus indicator is more uniform across boxes and only shows when the window is active. Fixed a ColumnSwitcher layout issue that was introduced earlier in 20.
DOE and Reliability
- Caleb: Submitted a statistical shape analysis add-in on Tuesday and finished up some analysis for an additive manufacturing project I've been leading with Ryan DeWitt, Simin Zheng, and Mark Bailey. We'll be writing up a blog post here soon to tell everyone about it
. I've also been compiling some feedback from Discovery, putting together a plan for the reliability platforms for JMP 20 for new developer Eric Mittman and myself.
- Irene: Working on a Jira ticket to address VIF calculation differences between DOE and Fit Model; trying out a few ways to create designs for high-throughput experiments.
Hosting and Interfaces
- Paul N:
- JMP-28319 Security update from Python 3.13.7 to 3.13.9 in JMP 20.0
- Testing out both TensorFlow installs and PyTorch installs in the JMP Python environment. PyTorch now detects and use Metal Performance Shaders (MPS) on macOS without additional package installs. TensorFlow utilizes MPS in Python 3.12, but not yet in a public TensorFlow release, though it is present in the source repository.
- Testing Evan C’s push supporting Python virtual environments in JMP 20
- Fixed issue in jmputils due to venv push that affected the new jmputils.packages() function.
- Answering some JMP Community posts.
Interactive HTML
- John Powell:
- Fixed incorrect filter display when the modeling type for a multiple response column is changed to Nominal (JMPHTML-14230) .
- Fixed in issue with multiple local data filters when rows in the data table are hidden(JMPHTML-13443).
- Integrated verified fixes into 19.1.
- Working on retaining the position of the Bubble Plot Time Label on JMP Live(JMPHTML-15061).
- Discovered with Mike M’s help, JMP and Interactive HTML issues with CellPlotBox that were revealed after regression tests ran clean thanks to Dave B.
- Completed a blog introducing a series of blogs about new Interactive HTML features in JMP 19.
- Working through module 2 of the STIPS course.
- Ended current sprint and started a new one.
- Paul Spychala: I have been working on issues and improvements for 20/19.1.

- Fit to Window stopped working due to changes in JMPReport (JMPHTML-14991)
- Support GLM Profiler Confidence Intervals (JMPHTML-15002)
- Refactor the location of the JMP Report XML in the HTML file (JMPHTML-14387)
- A bunch of smaller fixes in Dendrograms, Histograms, Treemaps, Resizing and Axis work
- Mike Stickles: Completed ACT-Now training. Working on JMPHTML-14956 (Band style error bars not exported properly with points in graph builder with a color variable). Working on blog post about addition of Word Clouds to Interactive HTML in JMP 19.
Statistics
- John Sall:
- In Process Screening, in response to feedback at Austin Discovery, I added "Specific Distributions" where you can specify the distributions to estimate for a process (JMP-28565).
- Over the past several months, I have added Live/Triage support, Phases, Short Run, out-of-spec alarms, Save Alarms Table, Save Limits Table, Non-normal capability and Prob of Action, 5 more distributions, reorganized the way Distributions are done, and split one file into 5 files. Nevertheless with refactoring, all that work has only added 1105 to the code linecount (now just under 12,000 lines total, JMP-28352).

- Laura C-S: Continue to work on a new class to estimate multiple polychoric correlations and thresholds, along with the asymptotic covariance matrix for all parameters. Most of the work is done but I’m still debugging and handling edge cases.
Stat Documentation
- Michael C: Helped L10N update some scripts to accommodate generating doc screenshots in localized JMP. Reviewed UI strings for 19.1 and started combining some duplicates in advance of the 19.1 string handoff. Updated the NIST unit testing script for 19.0.1. Continued work with Jill on formalizing the JMP documentation style guide.
Stat Testing
- Mark: Completed the analysis of the images of the parts made by additive manufacturing and stressed according to an Accelerated Life Test. I met with the team behind this experiment (Caleb, Ryan DeWitt, and Simin) to discuss the findings and plan our next steps. I worked on the tutorial with Jacob about simulating responses in JMP and the new enhanced random coefficients feature in particular. I attended the quarterly update for the D&I Metrics Committee to prepare for the quarterly Action Team meeting next week.
- Jacob:
- Preparing a tutorial on DOE Simulate Responses, with Mark Bailey
- Performance testing, investigating potential issues in JMP 20 and transitioning to new AWS machine
- Reviewing VIF calculations from Irene, and preparing JSL script to test them
- Reviewing my Baseline tests, added a new baseline test for Make Validation Column
Life Sciences Updates
- Wenjun: Russ and Wenjun hosted MAQC (https://themaqc.org/conferences/) this week in building C. Russ chaired the AI session and wrapped up AI talk for the conference with assisting by Assistant. Russ and Wenjun presented the young scientist JMP awards.
- The life sciences team had a group lunch in building A on Wednesday and welcomed Shannon to join at the end.

- Drew: Created a script that recursively runs a directory, opens all JMP, SAS7BDAT, and XPT files, randomly samples 100 rows, and collects the metadata about each column, and puts this information into a JMP table. This will help start the process of defining a ML model for assisting customers in mapping their data into CDISC format. Fixed JMP Clinical 19.1 Jiras.
Technical Support and Engagement
- This week, Bobby Riggs, Dahlia Watkins, Joe Kolker, Kai Janson, and Luiza Fabreti were in Cary and participated in a JMP Live Deep Dive training. The information shared by Alex Lippencott, Dieter Pisot, Eric Hill, and Chris Church is invaluable. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to these four, Josh LoPresti, and everyone who covered extra areas so that members of Tech Support could focus on the sessions.
- Below are the usual graphs for case volume as well as topics for both Tech Support and Engagement. Here are the TS JMP Live reports and the link to the Jira filter showing the tickets reported by Support for the last 14 days
