[For JMP 19.1 and later] If you perform the [Edit] → [Paste] operation as explained in " JMP Note 836939 - [~JMP 18] How to change multiple column names at once ", a window like the one below will appear, and you can make the change by clicking [Recode].

[For JMP 19.0.x ] You can change the names of multiple columns at once by going to [Columns] → [Column Names] → [Recode Column Names...] and using [Paste Multiple...].
Note: The [Edit] → [Paste] operation described in " JMP Note 836939 - [JMP 18] How to change multiple column names at once " does not allow for batch renaming of column names in JMP 19.0.x.
The data table has columns X1, X2, X3, and X4. We will rename these columns.

- Prepare a data table (an MS Excel file or similar) that retains the changed column names.
- Select the range of columns for the new column names, then select Edit → Copy (in the example below, from temperature in row 1 to weather in row 4).

- In the menu of the data table whose column names you want to change, select [Columns] → [Column Names] → [Recode Column Names...].
- In the re-coding window, click the red triangle button in the upper left corner and select "Paste Multiple Items...".

- Click [OK].

- Click [Recode].
