Examples or Cases of Using JMP for Financial Analysis?Lori Rothenberg is teaching JMP to a class at the Navy. She pinged JMP Training with this request but I thought you might have broader experience, so I am casting my net!
Lori says, "Does anyone have any good examples (just scenarios) of using JMP for cost analysis? The Navy is enjoying the training, but would like more examples for cost analysis in the building of ships. No need to make up examples if you don’t have any off the top of your head."
Thanks!
Re: Examples or Cases of Using JMP for Financial Analysis? Thanks for the top and the scenario!
Re: Examples or Cases of Using JMP for Financial Analysis?@Mark_Bailey: Have you contacted Tom Donnelly directly? I'm not sure how much Tom surfs this site so if he doesn't make a habit of visiting here...he might have something?
Building ships is outside my area of experience, but in a general sense I incorporate the concept of 'cost' in much of my DOE narratives in the following fashion...
One of the primary principles of Design for Manufacturability is to minimize the number of line items on the bill of materials. So in the process/product design phase I will sometimes use the prediction profiler and simulator capabilties to illustrate the effect on key responses if entire design factors are eliminated. The broad cost idea is if CTQ functionality of the product is still acceptable and you can eliminate a part/component, then you've made the product less expensive...more manufacturable, shortened/simplified the supply chain...and these benefits accrue perpetually. Maybe a narrative could be composed along these lines? After all, to me a ship is just a huge assembly of systems/parts/components that are designed to work together to achieve some aim.
