Today, we're excited to introduce you to Mac Crollman, a Senior Associate Business Operations Specialist on the Business Operations team.
On the job
Mac spends his days analyzing data and spreadsheets. His primary responsibility is to review alerts from the Descartes Visual Compliance system that flag potential issues with contacts and accounts. He investigates these alerts to determine if they are tied to any problematic behavior or restricted organizations. Mac maintains dashboards, logs his findings in Salesforce, and collaborates with Legal or other teams when necessary. He finds satisfaction in being the person who brings clarity to complex data and ensures the company makes responsible decisions.
Mac's background is diverse, beginning with a degree in marketing and an MBA. He's always been drawn to roles where he can build, solve problems, and streamline processes. This led him to work as a project manager and even to start his own home improvement business. He realized that the same problem-solving mindset he applied to building things physically could be used to improve systems and data. "It’s still about making things more efficient, safer, and smarter, and now it’s through dashboards instead of drywall," he said.

What he loves most about working at JMP is the culture of curiosity and innovation. "If you see a process that could be improved, you’re encouraged to dive in and make it better," he said.
He also values the company's focus on family, which allows him to balance his work with time for his wife and two boys.
Mac’s advice to someone just starting in his field is to be relentlessly curious. "The best way to understand this kind of work is to learn the full lifecycle of a process or product, from start to finish," he advised.
The JMP brand pillar that resonates most with him is Innovation. He is a naturally curious person who enjoys learning about new things, from quantum mechanics to improving a process at work.

On the side
Outside of work, Mac is passionate about his family and continuous learning. His two young boys make their home a "science lab and building zone," where they constantly do experiments and create things. He enjoys learning alongside them.
A fun fact about Mac is his experience working at a pet shop in high school, where he once had more than 25 reptiles living in his mom's living room. He also spent some time riding bulls after college. He once captured a photo of a black widow eating a snake (see photo below, if you dare).
After a long day, his favorite way to unwind is by playing with his kids. Their energy and imagination are contagious and completely recharge him.

Mac is an awesome person to work with! His commitment and contributions to what we do (especially on the Engagement side) make our jobs smoother. JMP is lucky to have someone like Mac. However, Mac, I'm more than happy to let you handle the local wildlife - most notably these snakes and spiders!
Thanks for all your do, Mac!
Mac,
Thank you so much for everything you do!
I’m excited to see and learn about your wonderful family.
We are so very lucky to have you in the JMP family.
Mac, thank you for your valuable contributions to JMP, particularly your work with the JMP Engagement Team. I appreciated learning more about you through the article and look forward to our ongoing collaboration.
Mac, What a lovely post, your persistent curiosity and appreciation for learning really resonate with me and I echo your appreciation for our culture at JMP which really reinforces that. Thank you for being such a great teammate, always timely and diligent in helping us resolve restrictive party screening (RPS) triggers.
Mac, thank-you for sharing this post with the JMP Family. I'm constantly amazed at how you can listen to me ramble on about an idea that is half-baked and make sense of it. I'm really happy you chose to work with the Business Operations Group to help us navigate and understand the new applications we use to run our business. You are a true inspiration.
