JMP LIVE vs TABLEAU

hello SE's from across the seas

i got a customer who is a huge jmp advocate who's been a fan for a while

had a recent conversation with him since he's taking over as the stakeholder for a possible jmp live deal, but he had a question that i been hearing whenever we talk about live

what does jmp live do better than tableau???

i wanted to pose this question to everyone so we can share in how to best address this question - also so i can be more quick on my feet =P

Please make sure to never compare Tableau with JMP Live. You always want to compare JMP (incl. JMP Live) with Tableau. Like Mike said JMP Live brings the powerful analytics of JMP to the web.

TL;DR: Tableau is a pretty picture engine with no serious analytical capabilities of its own.

The long version: Tableau focuses on data visualization and relies on connectors to other systems (Python is the one I run into the most) for their analytical muscle.  That means, to Marks’s point in the last SE meeting, you have to know Tableau and Python to get anything like what Live does (with all development headaches and time sucks that comes with.). Live uses JMP Pro as its backend so - no code analytics, point and click deployment, and high levels of interactivity.  And, you still get the flexibility of Python / R / SAS  connections if you really want them.
