Hello JMP SEs,
Rev 0 of the JMP 19 Training Starter is now online, due to the efforts of many: developers, testers, technical support staff, documentation team members, product managers and SEs.
There are many new features in JMP 19, and in an effort to help you spend your time wisely, we have placed topics into 3 tiers, each of which the training starter supports differently.
1. At the top are those features that are most likely to factor into discussions with the majority of our customers, and/or features most likely to benefit from additional explanation, where self-study would be difficult. Each of these include a quick-start guide (or, in some cases, slide decks), EA and/or GTET training recordings, and supplementary journals or data tables where appropriate. These include:
- Data Table changes
- Graph Builder
- JMP Live
- Process Screening
- Causal Modeling
- Bayes Optimization
- Clinical & Genomics
- Data Connectors
2. In the next group are several features where the quick start guide is at present merely a placeholder, linking to relevant Confluence pages for more information. These are features that may or may not receive additional materials in the future. In many cases, these features are incremental improvements to longstanding platforms—interesting and possibly even quite important to the customers who’ve requested them, but unlikely to be a major reason a prospective customer chooses JMP. All features except those listed above, and the Misc feature, comprise this category.
3. The Misc category contains those features for which additional training materials will in all probability not be developed, as for one reason or another they are most appropriate for self-study. It is still important to look over these, to make yourself aware of their existence—especially since the “New in JMP” document is discontinued. As an example, scripting and workflow changes fall into this category. All of these reside in a single table, containing links to the relevant Confluence page(s).
Philosophically, we are striving for the 80/20 here: we don’t want to bury you in detail you don’t need, but we do want to help you focus on what is going to be most important, most of the time. If you feel we’ve made an egregious omission regarding a built-in JMP feature, please let me know. If there is demand for more material on a particular topic, we will make all reasonable attempts to provide it.
On that note: if you would like to develop training materials for one of the features in the second category, please let me know. This is one likely avenue by which those topics will receive additional attention.
Thanks!
Brady
Hi, just wondering that Environmental Monitoring/Process Screening is set under JMP, thought it is JMP Pro?
Hi @brady_brady will you send link to update starter. Mine is not updating automatically. Thanks.
Hi Martin, it is a JMP feature.
Cheers,
Brady
