Hi,
This is a very important point for me, I even spend some time writing about it! I have been using JMP since version 6. Yes, this is long time ago! Since version 6, the Overlay Plot tool has been the best to plot trend charts. When I say the best, it's not only the best in JMP, but also the best among all data science platforms. I tried Python, I love and use R a lot, also tried to program something home-made in Java... Nothing works better than Overlay Plot in JMP.
Over the last years, having to plot datasets with 300+ variables and 25,000+ rows is becoming more and more frequent. Doing this in JMP using the Overlay Plot tool (Graph Builder option off, of course!) takes less than 15 seconds to render all trend charts, and occupies less than 2 Go of RAM.
JMP 19 is out... without Overlay Plot!!! The best tool on the market wasn't good enough for JMP? Strange! My only option today is "Run Charts"... but it's a nightmare. Alternatively I could stack all variables, ending with million of records, then using Graph Builder and putting the labels in the "Page" zone. Tried it, not better! The plotting-all-trends tasks now requires 10 minutes before rendering all charts, using CTRL+enlarge doesn't propagate to all charts (by the way, this is a bug in Run Charts!), and the worst is the required 20 Go of RAM... Looks like a major memory leak, and I hope other users trying to do the same thing have a powerful computer! Scrolling the report is very laggy, something that never happened with Overlay Plot.
So, I am looking for help from the Community. Does someone know if it's possible to bring back to surface the Overlay Plot tool? Did someone develop a JMP addon doing the same thing with the same lightweight lightning fast performance?
Could a miracle happen and Overlay Plot re-appears in JMP 19.1?
