To improve clarity, reduce overhead, and enhance the visual appeal of our site names—especially during demos—we’re updating our naming conventions for JMP Live environments.
What’s Changing?
We’re moving away from version-specific names like devlive17, devlive18, and devlive19. Instead, we’re introducing a simplified, role-based naming structure:
|
Environment Role
|
New Name
|
Replaces
|
|
Production
|
jmplive.jmp.com
|
devlive19.jmp.com
|
|
Test/Next Release
|
nextjmplive.jmp.com
|
devlive19-1.jmp.com
|
|
Legacy Version
|
legacyjmplive.jmp.com
|
devlive18.jmp.com
|
Why This Matters
- Clarity: It’s immediately clear which site is production, test, or legacy.
- Consistency: Reduces confusion and simplifies documentation.
- Demo-Friendly: Cleaner URLs look more polished in presentations and customer-facing scenarios.
What About Older Versions?
While we don’t currently have a legacy instance running (since devlive17 was decommissioned), we plan to maintain one dot release behind the current version at legacyjmplive.jmp.com. For example:
- When version 19.0 is live, we will host version 18.2.2 at legacyjmplive.jmp.com.
- Once version 19.1 is released, the legacy site will be decommissioned.
- SE’s: Use it to house their prepared JMP Live demos. It should be used by SEs for all demo purposes. All prepared demo sites will be in separate spaces.
- CUSTOMERS: Can consume the output/outcome of SE demos of JMP to advance a JMP Live opportunity. The Discovery, Red Triangle Pharma, Strategic Accounts Seminars, and Technically Speaking can be viewed by users not logged in and users logged in can access the rest of the spaces like SE Demos and Helios Tech. Customers can login just like they do with JMP Public.
- Example Spaces: Red Triangle Industries, Helios Technologies, individual SE spaces.
- Data refresh is available in SEDemos.
Actions Required:
To ensure a smooth transition and avoid confusion, please update your bookmarks to reflect the new site names:
- Production → jmplive.jmp.com
- This is the main site for demos
- Test/Next Release → nextjmplive.jmp.com
- This is for testing new features and bug fixes
- Legacy → legacyjmplive.jmp.com
- This is for customer questions during version transitions
Keeping your bookmarks current will help you access the right environments quickly.
The devlive19 site was created from a copy of the devlive18 database on January 27, 2025, any content in devlive18 you want to keep published after that date will need to be moved tojmplive.jmp.com. Anything not in devlive19 today will not be moved unless you do it yourself.
All references to devlive links in blogs, Confluence pages, and training starters must be updated, as the existing devlive links will become nonfunctional. It is important to review and update these pages to prevent broken links and have continued access to relevant content.
If you need to verify the version of JMP Live a site is using, it can be at the bottom of the '?' menu in the top right.
When will this change take place?
These changes will happen the morning of September 12. We expect minimal downtime less than 1 hour. A redirect from devlive19.jmp.com to jmplive.jmp.com will be setup to help the transition.
