19.0: installer validation • 19.0.1: security fixes only until 10/2 • 19.1: code review until 9/30 • 20.0: open in main • 20 EA1: ~Jan. 2026 (exact date TBD)
Welcome to the JMP Development Update for September 5, 2025!
Testers continued their final installer validation work this week for JMP 19.0 in anticipation of QA signoff next week. PM, marketing, doc and localization teams also continued to finalize their deliverables in preparation for the launch of JMP 19. Dan Valente shared that product management released the JMP 19 webcast yesterday and notified the 464 people who had already pre-registered for it. You can share the webcast link with your network at jmp.com/launch - anyone who signs up now will get immediate access. If you want to watch it, here is an internal link, but please share the jmp.com/launch link externally so that PM can continue to capture interest through the Salesforce campaign. Additionally, the product marketing team held their second sales enablement training this week in preparation for the launch, sharing launch-related resources and partnering with sales colleagues who spoke about the importance of a new software release as an opportunity to reach out to customers. You can find the recording here.
With JMP 20 feature work in full swing, you may be considering integrating minor new features that have already been tested in 20 into the 19.1 track. Any new work being considered for integration into 19.1 needs to be discussed with your manager and added to the JMP 19.1 Features page here with an assessment of impact to various downstream teams. Feature freeze for JMP 19.1 is on 10/23/25 and we won’t be able to accommodate late feature work due to the shortness of this cycle, so please scope your work accordingly.
Thanks to everyone for triaging remaining bugs with Planned Version = 19.0! The number of items has dropped dramatically in the past few weeks. I have also noticed people triaging items for other tracks and cleaning up their to-do lists by marking items as resolved or Won’t Fix where appropriate.
Thanks very much to Ryan Gilmore and Mike Anderson for presenting on the new math equation editor available in the JMP user community! They partnered with iTalent on this new editor which takes Latek-formatted equations as input. If you missed the meeting, you can find a recording here.
Finally, thanks to Tonya Mauldin for sharing this week’s beta/crash cases for the last 2 weeks with crashes selected!

Product Management and Product Marketing
- Kaylee: This week we held our second sales enablement training on the JMP 19 launch. This session was all about best practices for sales to follow for JMP launch to help get customers to the latest version of JMP. We had Todd Hoffman, Lauren Vaughan, Nicole Pelaez, and Stuart Little present to sales on the importance of launch. At the end we reviewed all of the resources that were available to use once JMP 19 is launched. We have a lot of excitement surrounding the launch! If you would like to watch this session you can
find the recording here.
- Bryan F: Finished adding ability to add multiple choice questions to the U-Study tool. Worked with JMP Live team members (Adrianna Beck, Michael Goff, Justin Chilton) on column panel icons and editing behavior. Received help from Evan McCorkle with respect to using telemetry data in ways similar as to what was shown in his User in the Room talk. Received legal approval to use FluentUI System Icons in JMP and use them for the basis of a couple of recent icon request (JMP-27849 & JMP-15682). Reviewed use of icons in the menu bar on macOS Tahoe. Received recommendations from Greg Kraus on potential contractors we could use to perform a JMP usability assessment.

Currently taking a break from that to work on examining two issues created by recent JMP changes; will be logging Jira tickets for those once they’re properly defined and have clear reproduction cases.
JMP Live
- Aurora: 19.1 - Small control chart triage improvements. 19.5 - Changing the ownership of a post (GraphQL API for finding all deleted users). 20.0 - Conversations about triage in process screening. Miscellaneous - Working with Luiza Fabreti and Spyros Megalou on an idea for Discovery Europe 2026. Review some JMP Live onboarding videos by Mike Anderson.
Statistics
- In Process Screening the saved Details table has a new field "Active Alarms" that just show the alarms that are turned on, and there is a new command "Save Alarm Table" that saves the same fields as "Save Details Table", but only for the process items that have active alarms (JMP-27844).
- In Generalized Linear Model, added the save command "Prediction and Interval Formulas" (JMP-27859).
- For a number of platforms, it turns out that for ScriptItems of the enumerated type (EnumProperty) it is often better to not specify a .protoType clause because the Scripting Index will generate one automatically, showing all the enumerated choices available. I looked at the 80 ScriptItems that had both EnumProperty and .prototype, and removed the .prototype where that would improve it (JMP-27880). This is part of the initiative to improve the Scripting Index for LLM's. (JMP-27234)
- In the profiler platform (the one that uses formula columns) I have begun an initiative to change from expanding intermediate formulas, to use assignments instead to temporary slots. When complete this will vastly improve performance for formulas with large intermediates, as produced by Neural, for example. The problem is that they reevaluate the same expressions repeatedly, when it is better to just evaluate them once and reuse the value. This will later be put to use in Formula Depot as well. (JMP-27875)
- Laura C-S: Fixed a measurement invariance bug in SEM with MIIV-2SLS and a couple smaller bugs. Met with Christian Stopp to finalize our abstract for Technically Speaking and sent it to marketing. Also started working on slides for this same presentation. Met with Chris to discuss how to estimate polychoric correlations’ covariances. Gave feedback on an upcoming patent article for InsideJMP.
Stat Documentation
- Michael C: Reviewing the word list from SAS Advanced Analytics Division to see which words we should include in the JMP documentation terminology list. Finished revisions of Numerical Accuracy (NIST) white paper for 19.0 (with Rajneesh’s help) and sent files to Bob Hickey for publication to the web here.
Stat Testing
- Mark: Spent several days transferring to a new Windows computer. I continued the image analysis of parts made by additive manufacturing. I helped Kasia and Yeng with their plenary.
- Jacob: Verifying DOE Jira tickets and adding unit tests. Testing new Space Filling Design table scripts. Preparing for FTC, with Mark Bailey.
- Tonya: Testing the new CCB sorting changes and working on bug verification.
Note from Shannon
Here’s one for all the cat people out there, from meowningtons.com which has a lot of cute Milton the cat comics. Hope you all have a great weekend!
