Today, we're excited to introduce you to Yuichi Katsumura, a Pre-Sales Support Manager in Japan.
On the job
Yuichi's role is a dual one: he's a manager of pre-sales support, but due to an open position, he's also working as a sales engineer. His typical day involves preparing and delivering demonstrations to potential customers, presenting at seminars, and assisting with onboarding new customers after they purchase JMP. As this is his first time being a manager, he finds each day exciting and challenging, as he's constantly learning.
Yuichi's journey to JMP began in university, where he studied Health Sciences. He developed an interest in statistics and used JMP for his research, ultimately deciding to join the company because he found the software to be incredibly user-friendly.

These groups allow customers to learn from each other and for Yuichi to learn how they use JMP in their work. One of the valuable outcomes from these groups is the Materials Informatics Toolkit extension, which is now available on the JMP Marketplace.
What Yuichi loves most about working at JMP is the kind and cooperative people. He appreciates that if he has a customer question he can't answer, he can easily reach out to colleagues from around the world.
His advice to someone just starting out in his field is simple: "If you don't know something, don't hesitate to ask someone. It's the best way to learn and grow."
Of the JMP Brand Pillars, Yuichi feels that Helpful resonates with him the most. "I enjoy supporting customers in utilizing statistics effectively," he shared.

He loves exploring new ingredients and cooking methods from different countries. He's always open to new recommendations!
A fun fact about Yuichi that most people don't know is that he has a license to fly small helicopters. However, he hasn't flown in decades and jokes that he wouldn't be a safe pilot anymore.
For Yuichi, cooking is his favorite way to unwind after a long day. It allows him to de-stress and explore new culinary techniques.

I’m so glad you’re passionate about what you do! Do you have a favorite dish that you whip up all the time? And have your cats ever joined you on a helicopter ride?
