Hi!
I'm new here and I'm from the Minitab camp. I've loaded an Excel spreadsheet into JMP, which I update regularly (Update Table). I've created a summary/table from this source in JMP. I've formatted the columns myself (specification limits, units, etc.). Unfortunately, this setting is overwritten when I update the summary (Source > Run script), and I have to start over again. Is there a way to work around this?
Thanks!
You could create a workflow (I would suggest this if you are just starting with JMP) or copy a bit longer script from Enhanced Log which would add those limits. If you can provide simple example table and show the final table which you wish to have, we (JMP community) should be able to show how to get it done with Workflow.
JMP attempts to preserve some column properties when creating the summary table. For example, if a column in the main table has "Units," the summary table will use the same units if appropriate (for example, "Mean (height)" might have the units "cm"). One approach would then be to first set the units and other column properties in the source table before creating the summary table.
However, not all column properties are transferred automatically. For example, specification limits cannot be transferred because the specification limit for individual measured values differs from the specification limit for, say, the mean. (Imagine a batch where many measured values are outside the specification, but the mean is within.)
By the way - you can always copy the column properties from one column to another (even in another table, and even multiple columns at the same time), by right-clicking on the column header, “Copy Column Properties”, and then “Paste Column Properties”.
If you want to automate adjustments other than units and specification limits, scripts or the Workflow Builder might be helpful.
