Hi SEs,
Thanks for all your efforts in working together on the Global SE Team Collaboration Activity.
We viewed your first draft videos at our EMEA SE Summit in Amsterdam. It was clear that every team had put a great deal of work into preparing these and overcoming the challenges of language barriers, time zone differences and summer vacations. It was great to see all the skills and creativity.
We asked attendees to provide feedback on each video via a survey. The (anonymous) responses are attached.
Some general feedback for everyone:
- The best motivational videos focus on a specific persona and problem, rather than trying to cover all possible use cases. Situation summaries are a useful tool for this.
- The aim of the instructional video is for the viewer to know enough to get started with the capability or feature. They don't need to know how to do everything. The video can be up to 5 minutes long but 2 to 3 minutes would be better. Ruthlessly question the need for every word and every mouse movement. The videos in the JMP Learning Library are a good example of what we want to achieve.
- We originally said motivational and instructional videos should be independent of each other. As a group we decided that this was wrong: the instructional video can link with the motivational video on the same topic. Instructional videos can show the "how-to" for the situation described in the motivational video.
- It's good to hear different voices, including "strong" accents. We want to show that JMP has a big, global team of technical experts. Subtitles are always helpful. AI voices are not good.
For the final versions we will need to define "corporate standards". These are still to be determined but will include guidance on:
- Use of JMP logo
- Use of background music
- Use of stock B-roll footage
- Use of AI generated voiceover and images
- Use of webcam
- Mentions of "version 19" and "new in JMP"
- Use of Early Adopter JMP vs production version JMP
- Use of subtitles, including font and size
- Video aspect ratio and resolution
- Desktop background
Anything else? Comment below.
And if you have questions for one of the other teams (how did you get such good audio quality? how did you do that zoom in and out?), start another thread here in the SE Discussions.
Thanks again everyone, especially for being willing to stand up and have your hard work constructively criticized. It's not easy but that's how we improve.
These are going to be tremendously valuable resources for sales activities and customer education. And they are already helping our SEs to get up to speed with these capabilities and to "Make a Splash" with the new version.
The second versions are due before 24th October for viewing at our Americas SE Summit.
