What inspired this Wish List Request?
During a JMP Inspire event at Western Digital, a customer asked me if they could click on a data point inside a graph and then write a note or comment which then gets saved to the data table.
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see.
Currently JMP Clinical has a framework that can address this type of question but it is not something build into JMP. The simplest idea is that when clicking or right-clicking on a data point, have an option to add comment which then triggers to create a notes or comments column (if it does not already exist) and the comment gets added for that row into the data column. Could be implemented to allow multiple data points (rows) to be selected and to append notes/comments to that row in that column if that column and text already exists. Also automatically turn on Label property of the column so note shows up when hovering over data point(s).
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided?
It helps a user stay in the flow of analysis instead of select point, got to data table and create a comments column, find row, added comment, go back to graph/report and continue this process for every comment that is desired.

Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?
I don't know.
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?
Might not, but could make JMP more sticky and imbedded since these comments would persist with data tables and become part of their historical record of past data analysis.
