After 10 remarkable years of dedication and leadership, Principal Account Executive Malcolm Stevens (@malcolm_stevens) is retiring from JMP. Malcolm leaves behind a legacy of impact, having not only excelled in his role but also significantly shaped the very culture of JMP. His absence will undoubtedly be felt across the company, but his influence will continue to resonate for years to come.
A role model and mentor
Beyond his professional prowess, Malcolm is consistently described as an extraordinary role model. Before he got into sales, he was a teacher, and his patience and genuine care for others continue to define his interactions.
"Malcolm has been and will always be a tremendous role model for me,” Senior Account Executive Tim Pierce (@Tim_Pierce_JMP) said, “Not just in his sales skills and knowledge of software, but how he treats others inside and outside of JMP," Tim says Malcolm's genuine interest and curiosity in each person's work challenges and, more importantly, who they are as a human being. This deep care for others is a recurring theme. “Even during discussions about his retirement, Malcolm was more interested in what I had going on than bragging about his plans for the next phase!" Tim said.
Building and inspiring JMP teams
Malcolm's contributions to team building and collaboration are widely recognized. Brian McCreary (@brianmccreary) notes that Malcolm has helped define and build the JMP culture by leading, coaching, and encouraging collaboration across teams.
"If I had to sum up the last eight years, I think I'd just say, 'thank you,'” Senior Inside Sales Account Representative Shawn Blakeman (@Shawn_Blakeman) said. “It was an absolute privilege to learn from and work alongside you. What our HLS team built over the years is special, and I'm incredibly grateful for everything you did."
Senior Account Executive Josh Staunton (@jostau), who met Malcolm six years ago, describes him as a teacher by nature. Josh recalls Malcolm spending hours providing key context on products and areas of focus to help me as a new hire. "Malcolm set the bar in many ways for our team, but I think his successful example of combining continuous learning with the challenging of the status quo is the lesson that shines brightest," Josh said.
A champion for customers and colleagues
Malcolm's dedication extended equally to customers and colleagues. "The impact that Malcolm had on the Americas team is tremendous,” Sales Senior Manager Ashley Prince (@ashley_prince) said. “Malcolm didn’t just sell JMP - he championed a purpose, helping our pharma and biotech customers to bring life-saving cures to market faster." Ashley also affectionately describes Malcolm as having a shepherd's heart, underscoring his caring and guiding nature.
Inside Sales Manager Lauren Buck (@lauren_buck) emphasized Malcolm's generosity with his time and insights, noting that he is always there for his customers but is just as generous with his time and insights when it comes to helping his colleagues. “Whether it's work-related conversations or sharing recommendations on foods to try, he’s always a pleasure to talk to – and the accent doesn’t hurt either!" Lauren said.
“Malcolm is perhaps the greatest living Englishman, which may be in no small part due to his parents being from Ireland," Brian joked, then added, "Nonetheless, Malcolm is one of the most admirable individuals you could meet."
Malcolm's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to both JMP's mission and its people have left an indelible mark. We wish Malcolm nothing but the very best in his well-deserved retirement, filled with the ‘dozen adventures’ Shawn predicts he's already finalized.
Cheers, Malcolm! Your impact will truly last a long time.
