JSL and Journals for Automated Reporting?Hi All,
I've got a customer that's looking to use start using JMP Journals and automation for reporting results from their manufacturing processes to reduce the amount of resources they're spending on assembling reports. They're competent with scripting (not fully with JSL but learning) and JMP, but new to journals. This is what they've asked:
"We want to automate one regular report we produce as much as possible. Currently it is nearly no automatic (except for the statistics generated by the script in JMP and one excel sheet I produced to speed-write descriptions of those analyses). What would be good if you could show us is how to make it more automatic. For example, whether those descriptions of the stat analyses could be implemented into the script and based on a result (say, a limit is exceeded for data point X and hence violating Nelson rule) a certain sentence is written in the journal"
Has anyone got any useful resources or advice on how to help this customer learn to apply this? I'd imagine the result dependent sentence writing may be more complex.
Thanks,
Ben
Re: JSL and Journals for Automated Reporting?Assuming the business case makes sense (and the company is big enough), that’s a JMP Live use case. They could build the report as a JMP dashboard (zero coding), upload it to live (zero coding), and set up the scheduler with refresh (if the data comes from a database - minimal coding). Then they’re done! I bet they have more than one report they’d like automated. The one they’re asking about is probably just the critical report of the moment.
- also, on the nelson rules, control charts generate emails and notes in the Live report saying what rules were violated - so everything is pretty much baked in there.
