Welcome to the JMP Development Update for June 27, 2025!
It’s been a busy week for approvals as we wind down JMP Code Approval mode. Next week will be the last one for requesting JMP/JMP Pro source changes with JMP/JMP Pro Code Freeze coming at 5 pm on 7/3/25. JMP Clinical begins their approval mode for JSL-only changes at 5 pm today and will freeze at 5 pm on 7/17/25. The JMP 19 Approval requests we have received so far are tracked under this epic.
The DevOps team is working towards our upcoming branching events for 20, 19.1 and 19.0.1. While DevOps is doing everything possible to set up processes and tools ahead of 7/3/25, we expect to continue working the following week to get remaining infrastructure tasks completed and tested for all the various branches. Thanks in advance for your patience. We will prioritize JMP 20
(next feature branch), JMP 19.1
(next maintenance branch) and finally JMP 19.0.1
(security-only monthly release). Please see the links in the prior sentence for the epics tracking our branching tasks. I’ll be out of the office on vacation from 7/4-7/13, but Shannon L and Melanie will be helping organize and monitor branching tasks in my absence so please feel free to reach out to them with any questions!
Congratulations go out this week to Khawar Latif Khan, our JMP documentation team intern, who successfully defended his dissertation on Monday, June 23! Khawar shared that this successful defense was part of his PhD in Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media at NC State University. He says, “The dissertation, "Designing for Nonprofit Knowledge- and Resource-Sharing in Pakistan: An Activity-Centered Approach to Understanding, Framing, and Designing Collaboration" focuses on studying and designing for nonprofit activities that can support cross-organizational collaboration related to the problem of violence against women and children in Pakistan. Please find my picture with my dissertation chair (Dr. Stacey Pigg) below.” Congrats again on achieving this milestone, Khawar!

Thanks very much to DOE team member Joseph Morgan for sharing an update on his ongoing covering arrays research at this week’s JMP Dev meeting! If you were not able to attend, you can find a recording here. Joseph followed up colleague Irene Ji’s recent dev talk on BayesFlo with a deep dive on recent extensions to JMP’s capabilities and performance improvements for covering arrays for JMP 19 (and work that will continue into the 20 cycle).
Thanks to Tonya Mauldin for sharing a link to summary reports for the combined data of EA1-EA8 found here: EA1-EA8 | JMP Live. The weekly summary for the last 2 weeks can be found here: Weekly EA report for the weeks of June 20th and June 27th | JMP Live

Product Management and Product Marketing
- Kaylee: This week we had a very exciting training session for the sales enablement training session. Dan Valente and Russ Wolfinger presented on positioning JMP in the Era of AI, and Russ gave a sneak peek of the JMP Assistant that he has been working on.
This session was recorded, and there is a sales sheet in the Sales Enablement Library if you would like to know more.
- Bryan: This week I continued to develop the Usability Study Builder. Specifically, I added the ability to rename existing studies. Last week I tested with Sarah Sylvestre to make sure that both she and I could create and collaborate on studies. I also participated in an ideation session with the JMP Live team regarding the ability to edit data tables on JMP Live and collect response values as part of a DOE. In addition, I provided input on the UI for a JMP AI Assistant.

- Audrey: JMP 19 testing continues as we head towards Code Freeze and things seem to be going well overall. I have been doing some planning for 18.2.2 installer testing, planning for future unit test runs after the upcoming branch event, testing Jiras here and there.
- Nick H: Continued work on 19.0 verifications. I have also continued to push updates to the testing dashboard hosted at http://jmptooldev.dev.jmp.com/testing/dashboard/ with the new PostgreSQL backend. A number of the pages are now working; however the more complex pages are still a work in progress.

- Paul:
- Final expected updates to Python for JMP 18.2.2 & JMP 19.0 - 18.2.2 was updated to Python 3.11.13 and 19.0 received Python 3.13.5.
- Turns out all four PLATO courses I signed up for and planned to complete by the end of the year were O’Reilly courses (which SAS is phasing out). From the end of last week through this week I did them all…
Interactive HTML
- John Powell:
- Fixed a bug with markers missing on graphs in Process Screening with a local data filter (JMP-26715).
- Added a log message for unsupported Partial Selection Indicators (JMPHTML-14687).

- Mike Stickles: Did additional work on JMPHTML-14483 (GB: Line: Stacked chart yields different result w/Ordering=Summarized), but tabled it since the fix I’d found was generating a different error that I was uncertain I could get solved before code freeze. Switched to working on JMPHTML-14720 (Control Chart with Process Capability crashes), generated a fix and integrated into both main and (after approval) 19.0.
Statistics
- Elizabeth: Fixed a bug in GLMM with missing values in a frequency column that was causing a crash for Causal Treatment. Code reviews for folks. Nominal multinomial GLMM work (it’s producing results now, but I’m not sure they’re entirely correct, yet. Progress, though!).
