As many of you know, the JMP Marketplace launched in October 2024, providing a centralized, secure, and quality-controlled platform for JMP extensions. To streamline our offerings and ensure the best possible experience for our users, we will be phasing out the File Exchange.
As of July 7, 2025, the File Exchange will no longer accept new submissions, and by the end of 2025, the File Exchange will be removed.
Why this transition matters to you
This transition directly impacts how we, as JMP employees, share our valuable extensions with the global JMP community. Moving forward, all new extension submissions should be directed to the JMP Marketplace.
This shift is crucial and offers significant benefits like:
- Enhanced quality and compatibility: Marketplace extensions undergo rigorous testing for quality and installation compatibility prior to posting. This significantly reduces user friction and ensures a seamless experience.
- Legal safeguards for JMP: All staff extensions on the Marketplace include a "Terms of Use" legal agreement, which is vital for protecting JMP's interests and mitigating liability.
- Alignment with JMP objectives: Extensions featured on the JMP Marketplace have received approval from Product Management, ensuring they align with JMP's strategic goals and direction.
- Consistent documentation and localization: The Marketplace ensures that all extensions maintain consistent documentation quality and are prepared for localization, thereby broadening their reach and utility.
- Ongoing support and testing: We proactively re-test Marketplace extensions during new JMP release cycles. This provides extension owners with essential support for testing across various hosts and JMP versions, ensuring your contributions remain current and functional.
- Valuable sales insights: Downloads of staff extensions on the Marketplace are meticulously tracked through Salesforce campaigns. This data offers critical insights for our sales teams, helping them identify opportunities and effectively demonstrate the tangible value of JMP to organizations. Find out more about this here.
Our sales teams are actively leveraging the JMP Marketplace to highlight the robust capabilities and added value of JMP to our customers. By contributing to the Marketplace, you are directly supporting these vital efforts.
Existing extensions
During the initial Marketplace launch, our Product Management and Marketplace teams thoroughly reviewed many of the add-ins on the File Exchange and migrated high-priority extensions. However, we may not have transferred every valuable contribution.
If you have an extension on the File Exchange that you would like to see moved to the JMP Marketplace, we encourage you to submit it. This ensures its continued availability and allows it to benefit from all the advantages the Marketplace offers.
How to submit your extension to the JMP Marketplace
We encourage all employees to leverage the JMP Marketplace for sharing their innovative extensions. You can find comprehensive information on guidelines and the JMP Marketplace validation process here.
To submit an extension to the JMP Marketplace, please complete this form.
The minimum requirements for submitting an extension are:
- The extension file as a .zip (this can include an add-in, journal, data connector, dataset, etc.). If you are submitting a single .jsl file, we strongly encourage you to consider consolidating it into an add-in.
- At least one image (e.g., a screenshot illustrating the interface).
- Metadata information (hosts, JMP version, JMP product compatibility).
- A clear description outlining how to use your extension.
Please note that staff add-ins will undergo thorough testing against all hosts and versions you specify in your submission request prior to being posted.
If you have any questions about the JMP Marketplace submission process or testing, contact Kristen Slappey or jmpmarketplace@jmp.com.
Thanks for this information @kristen-slappey! How will migration from the File Exchange work for non-JMP employees? Will they be encouraged to follow the JMP Marketplace submission/approval process as well?
@ryan_cooper yes, we will also be posting a jmp blog about this and adding messaging to the community but we would like all extensions to be resubmitted through the jmp marketplace process for non staff add-ins. The review process is a bit different then staff add-ins in that we don't have product management approval or testing steps but we ensure all extensions go through malware scanning and make sure they have attested to the updated guidelines provided by legal about the content they are posting.
