Welcome to the JMP Development Update for June 6, 2025!
We are in Code Review mode for JMP 19.0 and moving quickly towards JMP Code Approval mode starting on 6/13 and freezing on 7/3/25. JMP Clinical enters Code Approval mode on 6/27 and has their Code Freeze on 7/14/25.
JMP 19 EA9 is now frozen and installers will soon be built and verified next week. As a reminder, please update your feature pages for EA9 with anything you want to share with users. Feature pages are the primary way PM determines what to share with customers for each EA iteration so it’s very important to update them ASAP!
At JMP Code Freeze on 7/3/25, Jim will turn off source code and testware auto-integration from main into the JMP 19 track. After the July 4th weekend, DevOps expects to work on infrastructure to support the new JMP 20 and 19.1 branches and then set up the 19.0.1 security-only release branch and tooling. Once the JMP 20 track is ready, auto-integration from main into 20 will be turned on. Please stay tuned for more information from my team members about exact timing of these milestones!
I know that some teams are now finished with JMP 19.0 work and are excited for the 20 branch to open so that they can push new feature work for 20 and test out fixes intended for maintenance releases. Please continue to work in shelves or private branches for your future work for now. Although we have considered branching early in past release cycles, in practice that has not yet worked out. Early branching for 20/19.1 would require turning off JMP 19 auto integration earlier than Code Freeze and necessitate integrating late fixes manually into multiple new and existing tracks.
We currently have many Jira bugs tagged with Planned Version = 19.0 that will definitely not be addressed in the next month. While you wait for the new release tracks to open, please continue to triage your Jira issues and allocate them to the next few branches by updating the Planned Version. As you triage items, please consider demoting Story items that need more research or evaluation to Feature Requests. Also, you can remove the Planned Version from items entirely if it’s not clear when they might be addressed.
FYI that the JMP Dev meeting schedule is very full this summer between talks planned for JMP 19 features and intern presentations later in the summer. If you have a JMP 19 feature you would like to showcase in a dev presentation this summer, I have an alternative slot available on Tuesdays at 11 am. Please add your topic and preferred Tuesday date to the JMP Dev volunteer schedule in Confluence if you want to present before August. Also, if you would like to present on a coding-related topic, that would be most welcome!
At this week’s JMP Dev meeting, Mac host developer Michael Hecht presented on Thread sanitizer, a new special build type that Jim Borek on my DevOps team will be running on a regular basis in JMP 20 along with our other existing special build types (and an upcoming ASAN build for Windows thanks to John Schroedl). And if you missed the meeting and would like to watch the recording, you can find it here. The new TSAN JMP build checks for threading issues and this option will be run in combination with UBSAN, which looks for undefined behaviors across architectures. If you want to see whether you have any issues related to special builds, you can check out this Jira filter (once we have TSAN issues with that Label, the filter will be updated).
Thanks to Tonya Mauldin for sharing this week’s beta/crash cases with crashes selected!

DOE and Reliability
- Caleb: This week I've been catching up from all my travels. My talk at the SSC conference in Saskatoon was very well received! Made some good connections as well. Since then, I've been working through some final CSALT bugs.
Hosting and Interfaces
- Will: Continuing work on MATLAB Integration. We are passing all the previous unit tests with some additional ones that I wrote. I am now working on bootstrapping the installation process such that the MATLAB engine python module can be installed automatically with the correct version if the user has not already done so.
Interactive HTML
- Mike Stickles:
- Tried investigating JMPHTML-14305 (Text Explorer Phrase List creates wrong selection events) and JMPHTML-14308 (Text Explorer Latent Analysis Cluster Mixture selection linked to Word Cloud) but was unable to reproduce either. Temporarily tabled work since determining why others can reproduce them but I can’t will likely take too much time with code freeze looming.
- Currently working on JMPHTML-14380 (Format: The axis tick label format does not honor the decimal). The fix currently breaks 14 parser tests. All image test failures are cases where the test image is showing old, incorrect behavior (likely missed because the test was testing something other than number formatting); the others are tooltip tests where running the test case manually does not give the same result as the test file. I am working through the latter to make sure the difference is due to outdated XML in the test file, and if they are, will update the test cases with current XML before submitting.
- Paul Spychala: Fixing bugs for HTML and JMPLive:
- Axis not attached to canvas when using Axes on Left on report (JMPHTML-2486)
- Histograms with Linked Subset regression (JMPHTML-14664)
- GB: LDF: Inverse filter condition w/special characters removes graph in Graph Builder segments in JMPLive. (JMPHTML-14653)
- Tile labels show two backslashes when resizing treemap while original labels have one backslash in JMPLive (JMPHTML-13370)
- Too many digits of precision in Treemap tooltip. (JMPHTML-13384)
- HTML5 does not honor the transparency setting on Treemap (JMPHTML-13562)
- Profiler Categorical Dates dropdown box not working (JMPHTML-14677)
- Praveena: Fixed various issues for 19:
- JMPHTML-13683 Contour line colors lost
- JMPHTML-13395 Colors lost when exporting contour of type HDR with lines and overlay role
- JMPHTML-14648 Warnings on 'Warnings' panel no longer interactive with warnings on report - Non english language
- JMPHTML-14040 Tabulate : The table head don't stay when scrolling down
- JMPHTML-14574 CS: Column Switcher disappears on HTML5 published from Japanese Locale
- John Powell:
- Made unsupported CalendarBox render static rather than just rendering some of its children static(JMPHTML-14678).
- Working on displaying a nicer error message when a JMP Live user tries to interact with a report while regenerating(JMPHTML-14438).
- Met with Praveenan and Dan S. to discuss handling multilingual column names in Column Switcher on JMP Live.
- Participated in Sprint 19-8 Retrospective.
Statistics
- Laura C-S: Continued fixing bugs in 19 for SEM; a few involving the MIIV-2SLS estimator, another with converge issues in ML, and another with the option to remove manifest variables. Met with Chris to discuss experience at the Academy of Marketing Science conference. Reviewed last draft of the upcoming SKP page for SEM.
- Elizabeth: Fixed a couple minor numeric bugs in Mixed & GLMM (JMP-861765 & JMP-26636) and a crash affecting both (JMP-26594).
Stat Testing
- Mark: Helped Joseph with a code review for the changes to how the JSL works in the simulate responses feature to work around a bug in how the multiply function is flattened. I tested the Bayesian Optimization platform in various scenarios with different kinds and degrees of outliers and missing values.
- Tonya: Working on bug verification and unit test clean up.
Life Sciences Updates
- Drew: JMP Clinical 19.0 Jiras and putting together a protype add-in for generating a PDF of the results from the JMP Installation Validation tool.
Product Management and Product Marketing
- Sarah Sylvestre: The Product Management (PM) team has decided to get stop using the Foxly Jira add-in for issue prioritization. Some development teams have used it as well. The PM team is preserving the data that is there now so if people are interested in accessing it once the add-in is gone, they can reach out to Sarah.

System/Host Testing-Cary
- Mandy: Busy week, but good. Caught up on all my JIRAs and verified and added tests. Worked on a crash fix today with tabulate. Spent a few days looking at Icon changes in JMP, mostly data table, for Dark mode on windows and Mac – and Light mode too – I’d say after looking at them a few days, I think they are growing on me. Will be out for a few weeks, on vacation and traveling to Hawaii – excited and still very grateful for this special time – Aloha!

- Nick H: Working a ton on verifications for 19.0 as well as cleaning up a number of unit tests that have started failing recently in 19 – some of which have lead to bugs. Great dev work and bug fixes from Morgan has led to quick improvements/bug fixes for snippets with more hopefully coming soon. Lastly, I have been working to the Testing Dashboard working with Postgres SQL test database that Myron is working on. Opened JMPTEST-1743 to track progress of Testing Dashboard Postgres migration work: I have been successful in getting one of our most complex queries to run successfully as well as getting a couple dashboard pages working using with the postgres backend – more work to come.
- Hunter: JIRA verifications. Opened JIRA items for some host issues with icons and file lists. Met with Evan M. on configuring a Japanese keyboard on two systems in my office. Met with Shannon L. to try to reproduce a recurring issue saving JIRA items with attachments.
- Lisa G: Worked on getting the security branch of Jenkins data running and publishing. I am also thinking about how to rework the telemetry dashboard publishing.
Web Testing – Cary
- Josh L: Started the week troubleshooting why all SAS-managed VMs were down. Migrated three JMP Live 18.2 servers from SAS VMs to AWS. Performed Jira verifications and regression testing for JMP Live 19. Completed a test run of the JMP Live 19.0 installers in preparation for the Early Adopter release. Reviewed documentation and responded to various questions throughout the week. The team is busy with verifications.
