What inspired this Wish List Request? First Solar uses JMP Live for SPC heavily and Medtronic is evaluating JMP Live for SPC currently. Both companies need the ability to display interactive Control Charts in JMP Live when the "BY" (WHERE clause) is used. Both companies have many processes they are monitoring and often times they have a column that indicates product that they want to use in the BY.
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see. Here is a link to a mock-up using the Semiconductor Capability data set. It is not interactive in JMP Live.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided? Our customers would not have to reshape the data (split by the BY variable) to create their control charts. Asking them to add steps to their refresh scripts and add more data tables (that are simply a reshaping of an existing table in JMP Live) to JMP Live in order to have interactive control charts will limit adoption in JMP Live and bog down the JMP Live server.
Is this an external customer request? Matthew Brown (matthew.brown@medtronic.com) from First Solar and Kevin Gaffney (kevin.m.gaffney@medtronic.com) from Medtronic.
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of? Prolink which Minitab recently acquired is worth looking at in general for SPC.
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this? Possibly renewal for First Solar, definitely expansion. May impact the sale of JMP Live at Medtronic.
@wendytseng I had a customer that needed the same funtionality. My impression was that the where clause would be supported in JMP 18. I just doubled checked the JMP 18 Training Starter for JMP Live and HTML and graphs with where clauses is listed there. I also just published a control chart with a where clause and it was not interactive. Maybe this is a bug? If so, it may be useful to report to tech support??
