JMP Development Updates
Core
- Xan: Getting Graph Builder to use DisplayBox margins; local smoother constraints; the previously unnamed gray in the palette is now called “Very Dark Gray” – allows Values Colors usage.
- Dave B: Fixing table box styling issues, tried to reproduce a couple of anonymous crashes but did not have much luck, looked into why a particular image test kept changing and noticed that one of the machines did not have the roboto font for some reason, fixed a problem running python with jmprunner builds
Hosting and Interfaces
- Michael H:
- IME (Japanese / Chinese text entry) work for Scintilla EditBoxes: fixed "Undo" to not step back through intermediate compositions; fixed placement of IME user interface when an EditBox is not at {0, 0}
- ME work for text focus fields: fixed to ignore changes while an Input Method is composing text; we were invoking a callback which prevented the IME from composing properly
- JMP Style Sheet Host Control support: added padding / color support for Mac ButtonBox and ComboBox (non-editable).
- SAS dataset import: added support for Charset("Best Guess") -- used by JMP Clinical
- AspenTech IP.21 import: improved an alert message, as recommended by Chris Barrett.
- Python: collaborated with Paul Nelson to find a huge data table memory leak; fixed several additional small memory leaks
- Tools: improved sourcing of .profile in xcode-unlock-p4.sh; added an -app= option to symbolize-crash-report, so you can explicitly specify the JMP.app to use if UUID lookup fails
- Will Morgan: MATLAB Integration work is continuing. We can now get and retrieve data tables with (almost) all supported data types between MATLAB and JMP. We are working on triaging the remaining portions of the interface.
- John Schroedl: Worked closely with Morgan Gribbins to make substantial changes to our IME processing in order to handle multiple Scintilla edit boxes in a window such as Notebooks. Some handling such as the clipboard history and IME in data table will regress until I make further updates. The changes are also thanks to a lot of IME and Font discussion with Evan McCorkle. Getting al lot of great IME testing from the Beijing and Japanese offices. Fielded various crash, VS and security questions.
Interactive HTML
- Paul Spychala: These last few weeks have been spent polishing features and bug fixes for HTML and JMPLive exports
- Only allow Red Triangle Menu’s to run on JMPLive that are marked as available on JMPLive (JMPHTML-14575)
- Line Styles in Custom Graphics not properly reset (JMPHTML-14551)
- Parallel Segment number format missing some precision (JMPHTML-13853)
- Selection of points at Graph Borders should be easier (JMPHTML-14554, JMPHTML-14553)
- 3D Scatter Plot now supports Text Scaling (JMPHTML-14232)
- Fit to Window now supports sizing multiple graphs directly in a Tab Page Box (JMPHTML-14586)
- Michael Senoyuit: Finished up tooltip graphlet support
- Praveena:
- JMPHTML-14203: Crashed HTML Report with Visibility Collapsed
- JMPHTML-14252: Table: Sorting order differs from that of desktop when missing value exists
- JMPHTML-14473: Menu: The bivariate menu items don't appear
- JMPHTML-13450: 'Stack' command over broadcasts
- JMPHTML-14471: I should not be able to triage 0 warnings
- JMPHTML-14426: Menu of 'Histogram Border' and 'Summary Statistics' not appear when the JMP report uses 'by' variable
- JMPHTML-14571: Table: selection on histogram does not match the selection on frequency table when using Group By Column
- JMPHTML-13488: HTML5 does not honor sorted table
- JMPHTML-14330: The bivariate menu items such as 'Histogram Border' won't appear when combining multiple bivariate reports in a window
JMP Live
- Aurora: Bug fixing (access control edge case, column headers and cancellation in downloads, give users more time to fix report titles during publish, comment notification email links and onscreen icons, improve handling of x-icon images). Completed a blog post "New in JMP Live 19.0: Control Chart Warning Triage", although I won't submit it until closer to JMP Live 19 release.
Statistics
- Laura C-S: Finally finished rearchitecting the equality constraints’ code for MIIV-2SLS, which helped fix a number of bugs and crashes. Fixed a couple UT assert bugs. Met with Xan to discuss a potential fix for a layout bug for the SEM diagram. Met with Hamid to discuss SEM updates to the doc. Attended D&I committee meeting.
Stat Documentation
- Michael C: Documenting new features in Fit Model (GLMM and Mixed); update some doc screenshots for UI changes in 19; added chapters for Bayesian Optimization and Causal Treatment so that doc content work for those platforms can begin; planning for summer intern’s arrival May 20.
Stat Testing
- Tonya: I have been working on generating beta reports, testing process screening, and updating CCB unit tests due to recent changes with control chart constants.
- Mark: I met with Ryan and Jacob to plan our presentation about software usability testing at FTC in Ryan's place. I continued testing realistic scenarios with Bayesian Optimization. I helped Di with an explanation of Bayesian Optimization so she can begin to create her workshop. I participated in the quarterly Diversity and Inclusion Team meeting this week. I met with Caleb, Ryan DeWitt, and Simin (intern) to discuss a project to study the degradation of plastic clips manufactured with a 3D printing process.
- Jacob:
- Writing unit tests for BayesFlo
- Testing updates to CSALT Design
- Testing Forced Values column property in Easy DOE, with Mark Bailey
- Exploring ‘ut parameterized test’ prototype from Evan McCorkle. Adapting my most recent BayesFlo unit tests to fit this framework.
Life Sciences Updates
- Richard: Writing blog posts for JMP Clinical 19.0
- Drew: Worked out a mechanism for comparing RTF files using a Python package that helped Susan add a validation test to the JMP Clinical test suite. This will hopefully help our customers more quickly adopt newer versions of our software as it provides them with the infrastructure for validating the results from one version to the next. Working through JMP Clinical 19 Jiras.
Product Management and Product Marketing
- Bryan F: Product Management is reviewing some icons that could work better in dark and light mode if they were monochromatic, not 3D, and/or didn’t use shadows. For example, the row state icons can be simplified to appear clearer especially in dark mode. I intend to provide some vector-based versions of some of these icons for review before code freeze. Working on making it possible to scale fonts prescribed in the JmpLive JSS. Also, I continued working on a generalized version of the scripting framework that I use at the Discovery Summit JMP Lab to make it easier for people to send out usability studies and automatically collect results. Also, provided some UX feedback and reviewed strings for JMP Live.
