Welcome to the JMP Development Update for May 2, 2025!
JMP 19 EA8 is now signed off and installers have been uploaded to MyJMP. Please review the list of JMP 19 dates in the Important Upcoming Dates Section below. We are rapidly nearing Code Review mode for JMP 19 (5/23/25) and are a little over 4 months from our release date, planned for mid-September. Our final JMP 19 early adopter release (EA9) will freeze on 6/5/25.
JMP 18.2.1 Code Freeze and Security Freeze are today; final installer candidates for all products will be created next Monday. In addition to third party library fixes, we have a few critical JMP bug fixes in this release. JMP Clinical 18.2.1 will also release a number of JSL-only fixes and a new report required by important customers. As we wrap up 18.2.1, the DevOps team is preparing for our last JMP 18 security fix release, 18.2.2.
Thanks to Russ Wolfinger for introducing JMP systems engineer Mike Anderson to talk about an extension to the DOE helicopter experiment at this week’s JMP Dev meeting! As I noted in the meeting, Mike also celebrated his 10 year work anniversary with JMP recently. Congratulations! If you were not able to attend in person, you can find the recording here.
Thanks to Tonya Mauldin for sharing this week’s Beta/Crash cases with crashes selected.

JMP Development Updates
Web Testing - Cary
- Josh: Caught up on email and Confluence pages that were updated while I was on vacation. Created the testing matrix for Live 18.2.1. installer testing. Worked on various Jiras around KeyCloak and changes to how some of the JMP Live admin console is delivered.

System/Host Testing - Beijing
- Happy Labor Day holiday to our colleagues in China, including our Beijing testing team and localization engineer Ying Zhou!
Core
- Dan S: Fixed Ternary component constraints for mixtures that don't sum to 1.0. JSS fixes for modification to colbox properties, and more styling options in bivariate platform. Reduced some box measuring overhead for large profiler reports. Working on JSL sizing issues for boxes with scrollbars and/or padding.
- Evan: Improvements to Column Tag symbol drawing, including a new font preference. Scripting support for Column Filtering. Fixes for Dark Mode. Helping with various issues related to Chinese and Japanese keyboard input and text rendering.
- Xan: A nested axis with ordering now orders the axis as a whole rather than each level separately JMP-1718. Add forced Values column property support to TermCombo, which affects nested axes, Summarize() and some stat platforms.
DOE and Reliability
- Caleb: Continued work on CSALT bugs and improvements. I also spoke with one of our incoming interns about an interesting project we can work on over the summer with Ryan DeWitt. I'm also preparing a talk that I'll be presenting at the Statistical Society of Canada's annual meeting at the end of the month.
Hosting and Interfaces
- John Schroedl: Thanks to renewed testing efforts of Yusuke Ono-san and Nala, a number of issues related to our new IME text entry code have been identified. Working through many of these with much discussion and help from Evan McCorkle (Thank you!). One especially bad issue with the Chinese IME was addressed but more changes are needed. Fixed title color of radio/check groups in dark mode. Worked with CIS to get an ARM laptop connected to SAS networks. This required a good bit of help as it's the first non-IT machine added so their systems are being updated.
- Will Morgan: Working through user requested features for the S3 and SharePoint data connectors. Updating documentation and add-in versions on the marketplace. Aside from that I have finished my final semester and have officially graduated from NC State! (Congratulations, Will!!!)
- Michael H: Mac IM improvements (IM = Input Method; how typing is done in Japanese, Korean, Emoji, Dictation, etc.)
Interactive HTML
- Paul Spychala: These last few weeks have been spent polishing features and bug fixes for HTML and JMPLive exports
- Fixing Bugs on the Parallel Plot in Graph Builder (JMPHTML-14509)
- Address Red Triangle Menu’s on JMPLive issues
- Slight rework to address several issues where settings were lost, out of order, or not supported (JMPHTML-14555).
- Support more Red Triangle Menu’s in Distribution Platform (JMPHTML-14569).
- Address modifying axis on Graphs created by a Red Triangle Menu action (JMPHTML-14573).
- Address more Fit to Window inconsistencies
- Lineup Boxes shrinking too much with mixed fit-able graphs (JMPHTML-14547).
- Support the Fit to Window with PanelBox (JMPHTML-14545).
- Mike Stickles: Completed JMPHTML-1407 (Legend setting on size role does not work on HTML5) and pushed the code up for review. Currently investigating JMPHTML-616 (Bar: Tooltip for left Y axis column always shown with default Bar drawing order). Will be on vacation the week of May 4-10.
- Praveena:
- We are in a bug fixing sprint, these are the issues I worked on this week.
- JMPHTML-14564 : Fix row highlighting issue in Bivariate Dashboard.
- JMPHTML-14571 : Table: selection on histogram does not match the selection on frequency table when using Group By Column.
- JMPHTML-14353 : JMP crashes when exporting process screening report to HTML5 with 'Group By Column' command.
- JMPHTML-14511: Subgroup displayed on warning hover help is not human readable.
- JMPHTML-14504 : JMP Live Publishing | Publish Reports | Predictor Screening Bar Graph Not Rendering Correctly.
- JMPHTML-14028 : When published to Live, Predictor Screening histogram bars are not in correct order.
- JMPHTML-14388 : Process Screening: Markers don't correspond to exact row in summary table.
- JMPHTML-14578 : Table: table row not selected when selecting marker on oneway.
JMP Live
- Aurora: Bug fixing (improve performance when publishing huge number of warnings, improve performance of backwards pagination based on timestamp e.g. audit log, disallow deletion of referenced users, etc.). Updated our Confluence page about automated JMP Live testing ("Vitest").
Statistics
- Annie: Continued working on fixing bugs in Control Chart Builder, including JMP-25422, JMP-26041, JMP-15074, JMP-24856, JMP-8244, and JMP-20216, where I extended the Control Chart constants d2 and d3.
- John Sall: In the Profiler, checked in multithreading for Optimization, with Laura Lancaster, Weijie Cai, Dan Schikore. Machines with many cores should run most optimizations 10x faster (JMP-25826).
Stat Testing
- Haley: Continued testing the MIIV estimator on models with equality constraints; investigated how standard errors are calculated for these models in the two R packages that offer the estimator. Began testing the MIIV estimator with missing data. Verified changes to Assess Measurement Model in SEM. Published this blog post which shows an example of using my Moderation and Mediation Add-In with non-social-science data.
- Mark: Reverted to an earlier version of the unit test script for the Data Entry tab in Easy DOE when the difference in random coefficients between Mac and Windows returned. Closed recent tickets for Bayesian Optimization. Continue generating realistic cases for testing BO for timely feedback during the remaining development.
- Jacob: Writing unit tests for BayesFlo. Testing updates to CSALT Design and revising unit tests due to changes to the Simulator. Investigating a potential performance issue in sorting a large table. Verifying Jira tickets and cleaning DOE unit tests.
- Tonya: Working on unit tests for Process Screening changes and bug verification.
Life Sciences Updates
- Drew: Processing the Jira backlog and triaging issues internally and for customers. Michael Hecht provided some new functionality in opening data tables (and sas7bdat files) that enables us to better address erroneously encoded data. I've been working on a simple JSL utility that will try a dozen or so of the most popular encodings used in clinical trial data giving us a simplified "best guess" open option. This is important as prior JMP Clinical versions (built on SAS) could handle these as SAS had a built-in tolerance for guessing encodings.
Product Management and Product Marketing
- Bryan F: Completed the graphics for InstallShield. Made more updates to the JMP Live theme and entered some Jiras for JMP Live theme visual issues. I am working on a generalized version of the scripting framework that I use at the Discovery Summit JMP Lab to make it easier for people to send out usability studies and automatically collect results.

Got a few EA7 tracks, but today received 3 JMP19 EA8 tracks – albeit, the suggestions were other things and not specific to EA8 updates. Working on writing some tests with the new Column Filter JSL for in the columns panel area that Evan provided. Will add a bit more with that, column tags, and filter views. Reviewing NYC 311 Records.jmp table and trying some data clean steps with it - recode column names, recode values in columns, using some formats and adding tags, sticking this in a workflow too – and considering possible future updates.
- Nick H: Continued to make strides with 19.0 verifications creating a number of new unit tests for the new Outline Box styling options. I have also continued some deeper testing of snippets filing several bugs/suggestions for improvements for the current snippets functionality.
