What inspired this Wish List Request?
When we open an Excel sheet using JSL with “Update Table (1)” option as below or run the “Update Table” table script of an existing data table imported from Excel, all existing column properties are cleared.
Open(
"$SAMPLE_IMPORT_DATA/Bigclass.xlsx",
Worksheets( "Bigclass" ),
Use for all sheets( 1 ),
Concatenate Worksheets( 0 ),
Create Concatenation Column( 0 ),
Worksheet Settings(
1,
Has Column Headers( 1 ),
…
Column Separator String( "-" )
),
Update Table( 1 )
);
Please describe the new or improved feature or solution you would like to see.
A user at Shinetsu Handotai (semiconductor company) wants to keep the column properties like an “Update From DB” table script of the table imported using ODBC does.
What would the value be to you and/or other users if this new feature is provided?
The users will not need to specify column properties again after they import the latest data from Excel.
Is this an external customer request?
Yes it was requested by a customer at Shinetsu Handotai.
Is there a competitive software package that has this feature or solution that we should be aware of?
I am not sure.
Will this impact a renewal, expansion, or adoption at a customer, and does this put an account at risk if we do not address this?
Though it would not impact renewal or expantion, it would save a few steps of their analysis.
